Amazon has become the victim of the biggest hacking attack in history

Amazon's web services were hit by a massive DDoS attack earlier today. These web server overload attacks are quite common on the internet, however this particular attack on Amazon was so intense that it most likely became the most intense DDoS attack in history. According to the ZDNet portal, data transfer reaches values of up to around 2.3 Tb/s, similar attacks often do not even reach values of 500 Gb/s. Until now, this strange record was held by the company NETSCOUT, against which an attack worth up to 2017 TB/s was "developed" in 1.7. Amazon became the target of this attack already in February of this year, but reported about it only now, through an information report on the first quarter of 2020. A month ago, GitHub also faced a very strong DDoS attack, specifically with a maximum intensity of around 1.35 Tb/s . Amazon further states that between Q2 2018 and Q4 2019, it experienced several different DDoS attacks, but none of them exceeded the intensity threshold of 1 Tb/s.

The end of phone booths

Let's face it, public payphones, better known as telephone booths, are not very (or at all) popular these days. Nowadays, everyone has a mobile phone together with a tariff, and in addition, mobile data is gradually starting to be used for phone calls. These are exactly the main reasons that lead O2 to phase out payphones. In addition, due to the current coronavirus situation, the term "public" is not popular at all - this is probably why O2 decided to end the phone booths. The end of public payphones began to gather momentum last year, when a total of 2750 machines were removed - for this year, only 1150 remain. And it is precisely these 1150 payphones that O2 is to completely get rid of this year - the Czech Republic will therefore completely lose all payphones.
