Amazon is once again taking up arms against Apple and this time it is going to compete with it in the field of wireless headphones. Jeff Bezos' company is preparing its own AirPods. The headphones should arrive in the second half of the year and offer not only the support of a virtual assistant, but above all better sound reproduction.

It's safe to say that AirPods have changed the wireless headphone industry. As a result, they currently dominate the respective market and only in the pre-Christmas period they controlled it with a 60% share. In a few months, however, a large part of them could be taken away by the upcoming headphones from Amazon, which are supposed to offer a lot of added value.

AirPods Amazon

Headphones from Amazon are supposed to be similar to AirPods in many ways - they should look similar and work the same. Of course, there will be a case for charging or the integration of a smart assistant, but in this case Siri will of course replace Alexa. The added value is primarily supposed to be better sound, which Amazon particularly focused on when developing the headphones. There will also be other color options, namely black and gray.

The headset should fully support both iOS and Android. It's in this area that the AirPods falter a bit, because while they work perfectly fine on the iPhone and iPad, they lack a few features on Android devices, and Amazon wants to take advantage of that. The headphones will also support gestures to control playback of songs or receive calls.

According to the information Bloomberg is the development of wireless headphones currently the most important project at Amazon, specifically in the hardware division Lab126. The company has spent the last months looking for suitable suppliers to take care of the production. Although development has been delayed, "AirPods by Amazon" should be heading to the market already in the second half of this year.
