Last year, Amazon introduced its first tablet with a 7-inch color touchscreen – Kindle Fire. Not long after its launch, it became number two on the American market, although its sales later began to decline, Amazon believes in its products and has come up with several new pancakes. Like most competitors, Amazon fights Apple mainly on price. This is because it is a wealthy company that can afford to partially subsidize its hardware and rely on earnings primarily from the services it offers.
Kindle Fire HD 8.9″
Let's start right away with the new flagship. As the name suggests, this tablet has built-in IPS LCD an 8,9-inch display with a very nice resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels, which gives a density of 254 PPI in a simple calculation. As a reminder – the Retina display of the 3rd generation iPad reaches a density of 264 PPI. In this regard, Amazon has prepared a very equal opponent.
Inside the body of the tablet beats a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 1,5 GHz, which, together with the Imagination PowerVR 3D graphics chip, should ensure sufficient performance for smooth work. Thanks to a pair of Wi-Fi antennas, Amazon promises up to 40% more bandwidth compared to the latest version of the iPad. There is an HD camera for video calls on the front, and a pair of stereo speakers on the back. The weight of the entire device with dimensions of 240 x 164 x 8,8 mm is 567 grams.
Like last year's predecessor, this year's models also run on a heavily modified Android 4.0 operating system. You will thus be "cheated" on some Google services, but in return you will get full integration of those from Amazon. The price tag of the 16GB Wi-Fi version was set at 299 US dollars, and the 32GB version will cost 369 dollars. The more expensive version with the LTE module will cost $499 (32 GB) or $599 (64 GB). An annual data plan with a limit of 50 MB per month, 250 GB of storage and a voucher worth $20 for shopping on Amazon can be added to the LTE version for $10. Americans can purchase the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ from November 20.
Kindle Fire HD
It is the direct successor of last year's model. The 7-inch display diagonal remained, but the resolution was increased to 1280 × 800 pixels. Inside there is an identical dual-core and graphics chip as in the higher model, only the frequency has been reduced to 1,2 GHz. The smaller model also got a pair of Wi-Fi antennas, stereo speakers and a front camera. The Kindle Fire HD measures 193 x 137 x 10,3 mm and weighs a pleasant 395 grams. The price of this device is set at $199 for the 16GB version and $249 for double the capacity. In the US, the Kindle Fire HD will be available on September 14.
JJ i.e. "COMPETITION" of the iPad :D
The competition came, albeit almost a year later, but it came. Me, see you in January, it will be a new iPad. And we will roll again... :)
I have a subscription to their new kindle wifi, not a tablet but a reader... I think it's a device that's really great for the price
as for the tablet... I don't think it's a device that would justify the price of 500 dollars, so I like to see anything on the market that ranges from 150-200 dollars where I consider it as a toy... from the photo lab and I prefer to watch the film in the cinema or on TV)
but how much the equipment is ok will be seen only after sales... the last kindle was an ultra-success due to the almost zero expenditure on its development :] we have to wait for it ourselves
I have an older Kindle fire as jelly bean, it is quite a nice tablet for a good price. By the way, there is not much written about the software for these new amazon tablets anywhere...
don't write because the people who will buy the tablet, I mean, you know what I want it for... for videos/books/magazines = buy from amazon
if there are some games and the like, I think people should rarely use them, maybe other applications...
amazon fire advertises simply as a tool for consuming content and as such it is good, no joke no min
Do you know if Amazon's functions are finally accessible in the Czech Republic? I know that the first generation tablet required root to be able to do anything with it at all.. If this restriction disappeared, the new fire HD was quite willingly exchanged for an ipad.
well, I think that if you have a credit card, then there is no problem with anything, in any case, the list of supported countries is usually on the amazon website for the relevant device you want to buy, I only have experience with the reader and it is problem-free because it is linked directly to an amazon account (albeit a British one )
I have the original Kindle Fire, but you can't get into the amazon appstore even with a credit card. I wanted to buy comics, but neither. One has to bypass it through the unofficial app story, but it is not a walk in the park. I managed to install some applications that way, but it was always a long and painful process.
I hope that the second generation has already improved a bit, because I could not recommend buying the original Fire.
