In the field of digital productivity tools, Evernote is certainly one of the most popular applications. It gains its fans all over the world with its wide range of uses, its reliability, cloud synchronization and, in addition, its availability on almost all imaginable platforms.
However, the great expansion of this service and its constant improvement by developers also has its dark side. For users who use Evernote primarily as a neat notepad, the app has gradually lost some of its simplicity and lightness. And that's why Alternote comes to Mac. So, if you are among the less demanding users of Evernote, the official application for Mac already seems too robust to you and you want to make your notes stand out again, you should not miss this new feature.
Alternote is an alternative application to Evernote that aims to make your daily work with notes more pleasant. It doesn't offer advanced Evernote features like work chat, note map, presentation option or PDF note annotation feature. Alternote is much simpler and really just serves as a space for your notes (and any files attached to them). But he is really good at working with them.
Writing experience
In my opinion, the main advantage of Alternot over the official Evernote application is the experience of writing notes. Alternote is first and foremost a great text editor that allows easy text formatting. A big benefit of the application is the support of the popular Markdown format, which makes formatting even easier.
You will also be pleased with the support for the mode for undisturbed typing, thanks to which you can use the entire window for recording text. You can thus concentrate only on work and are not disturbed by any graphic elements in the surroundings. When typing at night, you will certainly be pleased with the night mode, which changes the application window to a darker gray color that is not so hard on the eyes. A nice addition at the end is the word or character counter, which you can find in the lower part of the editor.
And now let's open the new notes in El Capitan and ask ourselves - didn't it come at the most inopportune moment? :)
MABee Arts will still have a tough road ahead.
Yes, you are right. On the other hand, someone who is already used to Evernote and has dozens or hundreds of notes in it, will not want to go back and forth... That's why Alternote is a nice application for the notes they already have.
Does Alternote have the option to sync via iCloud or dbx?
Otherwise, I don't expect that notebooks in Kapitán will have markdown support and the like anyway.
Alternote is an app for Evernote, so it works with Evernote's notes and uses its own sync. Notes in OS X El Capitan will not be able to Markdown.
Can it also share notes or notebooks? How about the mobile app?
Yes, it can share. Alternote doesn't exist for iOS yet, you'll have to make do with Evernote there.
Does it also exist for iOS or is there only Evernote?
There is no alternativenote for iOS yet.
And a bookmark in Safari?
In short, Alternote is the app where you access all your Evernote notes. If there are also web pages saved via the share button in Safari, you will of course also see them in Alternot. Alternote doesn't have its own extension for Safari, but it doesn't need it, just use the Evernote extension.
