After several months of negotiations preceding the acquisition, Apple officially announced the purchase of the Israeli company PrimeSense. The company develops 3D sensors that detect the body and its movement. She is best known as the creator of the original Kinect, a revolutionary device in its own way, which, in conjunction with the Xbox 360, was able to transfer the player's movement (thanks to cameras and depth sensors) directly into the game and use it instead of a classic controller. For the second version of Kinect for Xbox One, however, Microsoft switched to its own solution.

Apple can current technology PrimeSense can be used in several ways. Since the first Kinect, development has expanded and the company has since developed significantly smaller sensors designed for mobile devices. This includes, for example, a model Capri, which fits into a device the size of a mobile phone. Another use could be the television market, where Apple operates with its Apple TV. It has already been speculated that Apple could use an environment controlled by movement and sensors in the next generation PrimeSense they fit perfectly here.

An Apple spokeswoman commented on the acquisition with standard quotes: "Apple buys small technology companies from time to time, and we generally don't talk about the purpose or our plans." PrimeSense it paid around $360 million and is the second Israeli firm that Apple has bought. It was last year anobit, a manufacturer of flash memory drivers.
