AirTag not working is a problem that some users of this tracking tag may experience. It is intended for a very specific group of users. While many users see AirTag as a completely useless product, other users see it practically as a godsend - myself included. Personally, I am one of those people who often forget various objects, and with the help of AirTags, I can easily find them and, if necessary, be notified that I have moved away from them. However, even AirTag is not perfect, and various problems may arise when setting it up or using it. Let's therefore look together in this article at 6 ways you can solve problems with AirTags.

Please update

Did you know that even AirTags have their own operating system, similar to iPhone or Mac? It's just that AirTags are not really an operating system, but firmware, which can be considered a kind of simpler operating system. In any case, this firmware also needs to be updated - and you can achieve this by updating the iOS on your iPhone with which you use AirTag. Updating iOS can be done easily in Settings → General → Software Update, where updates can be found, downloaded and installed. After installing the update, all you have to do is have the AirTag within range of an iPhone that is connected to Wi-Fi. After a certain time, the firmware update will be installed automatically.

Turn on Find Network

AirTags are completely unique because they work on the Find service network. This network consists of all Apple products that are available in the world. Thanks to it, these products can determine the location of each other, so if you lose an AirTag item and anyone with an Apple product walks past it, the signal is captured, sending the location to an Apple server, and then directly to your device and the Find It app , where the location appears. Thanks to this, you are practically able to find a lost AirTag on the other side of the globe. In short and simply, wherever people with Apple products usually go, it will be possible to easily find the lost item with AirTag. To activate the Find My network, go to iPhone Settings → your profile → Find → Find iPhone, where activate possibility Find service network.

Activate exact location for Find

When searching for an item that has an AirTag, are you unable to find its exact location? Does the Find app always take you to an approximate location that is off? If yes, then you need to allow the Find app to access the exact location. It's not complicated - just go to on your iPhone Settings → Privacy → Location Services. Here get down and open Find a find items where in both cases by a switch enable Exact location. Of course, the Location Services function itself must be turned on, without it localization will not work.

Use two-factor authentication

Got an AirTag, trying to set it up and getting an error saying you need to update your account security? If so, the solution is relatively simple - specifically, you need to start using two-factor authentication. This means that in addition to your password, you will need to authenticate yourself in a second way in certain situations. To activate two-factor authentication, just go to iPhone to Settings → your profile → Password and security where it is then enough to tap on Turn on two-factor authentication simply activate.

Check the battery

In order for the AirTag to work, of course, something has to give it juice. However, in this case it is not a rechargeable battery, but a disposable "button" battery marked CR2032. This battery should last about one year inside the AirTag, however, this is not a rule and it may run out sooner or later. Battery status can be checked in the app Find, where you switch to the section Subjects and open specific subject equipped with AirTag. Under the title with you the battery charge status is displayed in the icon. If the battery is dead, simply replace it - just open the AirTag, remove the old battery, insert a new one, close it and you're done.

Reset the AirTag

If you have performed all the above procedures and your AirTag still does not work, then the last option is to perform a complete reset. You can do this simply by going to the application Find, where you open the section Subjects a click on a specific subject equipped with AirTag. Then all you have to do is scroll down in the menu at the bottom of the screen all the way down and tap on the option Delete subject. Then follow the on-screen instructions. After resetting the AirTag, re-pair with the iPhone and try to use it again, the problem should be solved.
