According to analysts, AirPods are on track to reach the same high revenue in the last quarter of this year as the iPod brought to Apple at its peak. The period before the holidays is good for sales of apple products, the Apple Watch already surpassed the mentioned milestone last year.

Although Apple does not publish statistics on the number of AirPods sold, it does not hide the income generated by the category of wearable electronics. Horace Dediu, an analyst at Asymco, did his own research and concluded that the headphones could generate $2007 billion in revenue for Apple this quarter. The same amount was brought to Apple at the time of its greatest success, the iPod, in the fourth quarter of XNUMX.

In his report, Dediu draws attention to the fact that the iPod was a phenomenon in its time, which contributed to the change in the view of Apple as an exclusively computer company. "At least it psychologically set the stage for the iPhone and everything else that came after," Dedia reports.

The aforementioned peak, which was once reached by the iPod, was already surpassed by the Apple Watch a year ago. According to Dediu's estimates, Apple's smartwatches earned around $2018 billion during the fourth quarter of 4,2. For the current quarter, the Apple Watch could earn the company $5,2 billion. As for the entire "Wearable electronics and home" category, which includes both AirPods and the Apple Watch or HomePod, Dediu estimates its earnings at $10,7 billion, an amount that greatly exceeds his estimates for earnings from the sale of Macs or iPads.

The third quarter of this year was also quite successful for Apple. Apple has gained a 35% share of the global wearable electronics market and has seen a year-over-year increase of more than 195%, according to analysts at IDC.
