This only confirms that it will not be the second generation, but only a second, slightly improved version, which Apple may not even be worth mentioning and will simply add it to its online store tonight.

Indeed, it seems that the only change of the new AirPods is the relocation of the LED indicator from the inside of the charging case to its outside. Although the new case will no longer be as perfectly clean, it is definitely a step for the better. It will be possible to monitor the charging status of the AirPods and the case without having to open the case lid. It was frequent opening that led to unnecessary prolongation of charging, or to faster discharge of the case, which Apple also pointed out on your site.
Of course, there is also the assumption that the second version of AirPods will offer even more new functions. However, we are not able to read any other details from one image and a pair of animations, and even the iOS 11 codes do not reveal any other news.
