I believe that the new AirPods Pro have made many Apple fans really happy. Active noise cancellation, water resistance, better sound reproduction or replaceable tips are features offered by most competing headphones and it is definitely welcome that we can now find them in Apple's offer. Me personally - and I believe a lot of other users - but the premiere of the new AirPods Pro rather aggravated. However, not because the headphones offend me in terms of design, for example, but mainly because they come to the market at an inappropriate time and their introduction by Apple seems a bit like a thong to me.

I've been using AirPods for almost three years now, practically since the first model came on the market in 2017. For the average consumer who doesn't particularly care about sound quality and is caught up in the Apple ecosystem, these are some of the best wireless headphones. AirPods are exactly the product that confirms that the engineers in Cupertino can still make great things that are simple, intuitive, minimalistic and simply work. That is, at least until more than two years pass and the battery wear in the headphones begins to have a noticeable effect on the endurance during listening and especially during calls.

And that's why this spring, approximately two and a half years after the introduction of the first AirPods, Apple introduced their second generation. It received several smaller, but pleasing novelties and went directly against all owners of the original AirPods, who already felt the degrading battery life. And since I use my AirPods quite often, I joined them and logically bought the new generation. Although it was completely clear to me that in approximately two years I would be dealing with a similar problem with the battery, I was willing to spend the 5 crowns that Apple wants for AirPods 790 with a wireless charging case. I was also tempted by the prospect of having the latest and greatest wireless headphones with the bitten apple logo for at least a year and a half or two. But at the time, I had no way of knowing what Apple was up to.

Given the above, I was simply disappointed by yesterday's launch of the AirPods Pro. Not from the headphones themselves, but specifically from Apple as such. The second generation of AirPods now strikes me as a way for the Californian company to squeeze money out of everyone who had the battery life of the original AirPods. And now, half a year later, they will introduce other AirPods, which have several key extra functions that make it worth buying. This is not to say that there should not be an AirPods 2 or AirPods Pro, but Apple should have launched both versions of the headphones at the same time so that customers could easily choose. We didn't offer them this option until a few months after most interested parties had already managed to purchase second-generation AirPods for almost 6 thousand crowns.

I realize that not everyone will appreciate the new AirPods Pro and their functions, and therefore AirPods 2 will be more than enough for them. But if I personally had a choice at the time, I would definitely go for the more equipped AirPods Pro. Even with the first generation, I thought that they would have liked an active noise cancellation function, especially when competing headphones at a similar price offered it. Not to mention the water resistance, which comes in handy especially when playing sports. Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice, and I currently have six-month-old AirPods, which I can hardly sell or at a significant loss. And paying more than 7 crowns for a second pair of headphones is logically impossible for me to justify, and from the point of view of common sense, such a decision would not even make sense.
