iPod effect, iPhone effect, iPad effect. And now we can add another one to Apple's impact on various categories of electronics, this time called the AirPods effect. Many Apple products have a unique feature. At first they face ridicule from customers and competitors, but then many are inspired by these products and customers are looking for a way to at least get a copy of the iProduct that set the latest trend.

AirPods are no exception, which were initially compared to attachments for electric toothbrushes, tampons, and some even let it be known that Apple will sell you headphones without a cable and you have to buy it separately for an additional $10. The inspiration from the headphone adapter with a 3,5 mm jack for connecting to the iPhone 7 is obvious in this case.

To be honest, when I first saw that Apple had actually removed the 7mm jack from the iPhone 3,5, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the decision as an owner of fairly good Sony wired headphones. After a few years, however, these headphones stopped working for me and I, as the last Mohican in the 21st century, looked for a replacement, initially a cable one. I had a long-standing prejudice against wireless headphones for their sound, but technology has evolved in the meantime, and once a friend lent me his new AirPods for a few minutes, my prejudices were literally washed away. And so I soon became the owner of the new AirPods. Not just me, but as I noticed, at that time practically everyone I knew or saw had them. Apple thus has another phenomenon to its credit.

Of course, there were not only users of original headphones, people also began to accumulate copies or competing solutions such as Samsung Galaxy Buds or Xiaomi Mi AirDots Pro. However, it wasn't until the CES 2020 that Apple's power was shown in full display. The companies JBL, Audio Technica, Panasonic, but also MSI and AmazFit welcomed visitors to the fair with their own answers to AirPods and AirPods Pro, respectively.

AirPods Pro

The vast majority of earphones share the same overall design and a portable charging case is standard with each model, but they differ in additional features and battery life, which leaves us with manufacturers of various reputations competing to bring better AirPods to market. than the genuine ones from Apple.

Respectively, the main mover and trend-setter are the AirPods Pro introduced last year with replaceable plugs and active noise suppression. This is more of an addition to the portfolio than another revolutionary product, but the demand for them is huge and even if you order them through the Online Store now, Apple will deliver them to you in a month.

The delivery time for newly introduced competitors is also not exactly the shortest. The earliest product on the horizon are the 1More True Wireless ANC headphones with support for wireless charging, AptX and a total battery life of 22 hours depending on whether noise cancellation is activated. On the other hand, the latest and at the same time the most expensive product introduced are the Klipsch T10 at a whopping $649. The manufacturer describes them as the lightest and smallest headphones ever with a built-in operating system for voice and movement gestures.

But why do manufacturers focus on headphones, but not necessarily on streaming boxes like Apple TV? Simply because Apple has once again managed to transform an already existing product into something with visible innovation and strong marketing. This has been reflected in the massive popularity, thanks to which, according to some analysts, AirPods could boast the same or higher earnings last year than entire companies such as Twitter or Snap, Inc., which runs Snapchat. And this is also the reason why other companies have started to see truly wireless headphones as a gold mine.
