Dan Pražák Apple today introduced the second generation of its wireless AirPods headphones. The new AirPods 2 feature the H1 chip, offer 50% longer battery life during calls, the “Hey Siri” function, and most importantly, they now also come with a case that supports wireless charging.

AirPods are currently among the most popular wireless headphones, and Apple would like to maintain this status with the second generation. For AirPods 2, the engineers of the Californian giant have designed a completely new H1 chip (the successor to the original W1 chip), which speeds up pairing, improves the performance of the headphones and allows Siri to be activated only with the voice command "Hey Siri" without the need to use a tap gesture.
The main added value of the new generation is above all a case with support for wireless charging. However, AirPods 2 can be purchased either with a standard charging case for CZK 4, or with a wireless charging case, when the set costs CZK 790. The case supporting wireless charging can be purchased separately for 5 CZK, while it is also compatible with the 790st generation of headphones. However, the battery capacity of the wireless variant is no different from the standard one, and the case is able to provide the headphones with more than 2 hours of playback.
In addition to the mentioned, it offers the second. generation AirPods also 50% longer duration when making calls. Thus, while the first AirPods last approximately two hours during a call, the AirPods 2 would have a three-hour endurance in this regard. The lower consumption is primarily due to the new H1 chip, which also improves the pairing process with individual devices. Switching between iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch should be even smoother in the case of the second generation and, according to Apple, up to twice as fast.
AirPods 2 is possible on Apple's website and can be purchased in the Apple Store starting today. They will then be available in brick-and-mortar stores within the next week.
