Despite a slower start, the adoption of iOS 8 operating system is increasing step by step. According to current statistics provided directly by Apple on the developer portal, iOS 8 is installed on a total of 75% of all Apple mobile devices. Against numbers two months ago thus, the eighth iteration of iOS improved by seven percentage points.

Four months ago, however, iOS 8 achieved only 56% share, far behind the numbers of the previous version. The current share of iOS 7 has decreased to 22 percent, and earlier versions of the system account for only three percent.

Faster adoption is undoubtedly helped by the successful sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which the company in the last fiscal quarter sold less than 75 million. On the contrary, the slow initial adoption was largely caused by users' distrust of the new operating system, which is still full of bugs, or the impossibility of installing an update due to large demands on free memory space.

In comparison, Android 5.0 adoption is currently only 3,3 percent, but the system was only officially released a few months ago. The previous version of the operating system, 4.4 KitKat, already accounts for almost 41% of all released versions.
