Although Apple tried to cater to the Chinese market last year by introducing dual-SIM versions of its iPhone XS and XS Max, it has been facing considerable problems there recently. The company's efforts to develop an iPhone that would meet the specific requirements of the market there are clearly far from over.

Apple should definitely do something to improve its position in China. iPhone sales here fell by 27% for the quarter, and the problems also had a negative impact on the stock price. Even Tim Cook himself admits that Apple really has a problem in China. There are several reasons. Both the Chinese economy and competition in the form of more affordable smartphones from local manufacturers such as Huawei play a role here. At the same time, Apple partially acknowledges that the relatively high prices of the latest models can also bear their share of the blame.

Not only analysts, but also former Apple employees commented on the whole matter, who came to an interesting conclusion - Apple should not apply in China the procedures it is used to in the rest of the world, and should adapt to the requirements of the local market as much as possible, ideally introducing a model tailored to the world's most populous country.

Carl Smit, who worked in Apple's retail division, believes that Apple is adapting too slowly. According to Veronika Wu, a former employee of Apple's Chinese branch, Apple phones do not have features that would be attractive to customers there.

An example of Apple's too slow adaptation to the conditions of the Chinese market is, among other things, the time it took to introduce its dual-SIM models here. By the time he introduced them with great fanfare, this type of phone had long been offered by competitors. Another example is the reading of QR codes, which Apple integrated into the native Camera application only with the arrival of iOS 11. But there are also voices claiming that Apple, on the other hand, cannot afford to adapt to submarkets.
