The past week was quite rich in terms of news for Apple. Apple introduced the expected Beats Studio Buds+ headphones, but also surprised by publishing screenshots from the upcoming iOS 17 operating system, and pleased Windows computer owners with iMessage support for a change.

Apple introduced Beats Studio Buds+

In the middle of the week, Apple introduced the new Beats Studio Buds+ wireless headphones. Given the numerous leaks, this was an expected but unsurprising news. Available in ivory, black and translucent, the headphones are equipped with the Beats Proprietary Platform 2nd generation chip, offer Hey Siri support, improved active noise cancellation, improved permeability mode and many other innovations, the detailed description of which you can read for example here.

iMessage in Windows 11

At the very beginning of the week, owners of computers with the Windows 11 operating system received great news. Microsoft has finally introduced the promised iMessage support through the Phone Link application. Although this is not a full-fledged iMessage service, and users have to reckon with a number of limitations in the form of the absence of support for group chats and others, it is still a welcome step forward, and pleasing news for everyone who, in addition to an iPhone, also owns a computer with Windows 11.

Apple is threatened with a lawsuit again

It seems like a month doesn't go by without Apple having so-called "braids in court" for whatever reason. This time it is a case related to serial repairs. The French organization Halte à l'Obsolescence Programmée (HOP) accused Apple of actively and knowingly limiting the possibility of using non-certified components in repairs. This is because Apple requires customers to enter the serial number of the device when ordering parts for iPhones and Macs, and to pair all ordered parts with the same device after installation. The investigation of the whole matter has currently been taken over by the French Office of the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office.

iOS 17 screenshots

In the course of the past week, Apple surprised many by publishing the first screenshots of the yet-to-be-released iOS 17 operating system. It should traditionally be officially presented on this year's WWDC developer conference in June. According to Apple, the iOS 17 operating system should offer a simplified mode, intended especially for users of senior age, the ability to read the screen content out loud, for example during phone calls, and other useful functions, intended not only for users with various disabilities.
