Due to the current situation, it was clear that we would not get any conference for the introduction of new Apple products. The news started appearing today, without announcement, directly by updating the official website. Today, Apple introduced the new iPad Pro, updated the specifications of the Mac Mini, and above all, revealed the new MacBook Air, which we will now take a look at.

The change that will probably please most people interested in this model is that Apple has made it cheaper and improved the basic configuration. The new basic MacBook Air costs NOK 29, which is a difference of three thousand crowns compared to the previous generation. Despite this, however, there has been an improvement in the specification, with the base model offering 990 GB of storage, instead of 256 GB. This is probably the biggest attraction of the new generation for the average user. You can view all configurations at Apple's official website.

Another big change is the “new” Magic Keyboard, which Apple first used last year on the 16″ MacBook Pro. The Air model is thus the 2nd MacBook to receive this innovative keyboard. It is expected that the Magic Keyboard will also appear in the new 13″ or 14″ MacBook Pro. This new keyboard should be much more reliable and pleasant to type on than the original type with the so-called butterfly mechanism.

The last big news is the generational change of processors, when the eighth generation of Core iX chips was replaced by the tenth generation. The basic model will thus offer a dual-core i3 processor with a base clock of 1,1 GHz and TB up to 3,2 GHz. The central processor is a quad-core i5 chip with clocks of 1,1/3,5 GHz, and at the top is an i7 with clocks of 1,2/3,8 GHz. All processors support Hyper Threading and thus offer twice the number of threads compared to the number of physical cores. The new processors also include new iGPUs, which have seen a really big performance leap forward in this generation. Apple states that the graphics performance of these chips jumped up to 80% between generations. Processors as such should be up to twice as powerful.

Apple does not specify the specific specifications of the processors, if we look in the database of chips from the Ice Lake family, we will not find identical processors here. So Apple probably uses some special, unlisted processors that Intel custom-makes for it. In the case of the least powerful chip, the specifications given by Apple fit the Core i3 1000G4 chip, but there is no match for more powerful chips. In all cases, it should be 12W processors. We will see how the new product performs in practice in the coming days, the most interesting thing will be to see if Apple has resorted to improving the cooling system, which was insufficient in the higher processor series of the previous generation.
