Several sources have already confirmed that the press event where Apple will present the new iPhone generation will be held on September 10. There is a lot of speculation surrounding the upcoming phone, both logical and wild.
Apple uses the tick-tock method for its devices, so the first of the pair brings significant changes, not only in the hardware inside, but also in the overall design of the device. The second model in this tandem will then keep the same look, but will bring some improvements compared to the previous generation. This was the case with the iPhone 3G-3GS and iPhone 4-4S, and it will most likely not change this year either. The wild card is supposed to be a cheaper variant called the iPhone 5C, which is supposed to fight especially in markets without subsidized phones and reverse the trend of cheap Android devices.
iPhone 5S
Guts
While the new iPhone isn't expected to change much on the outside, there could be more on the inside. Each new version of the iPhone came with a new processor that raised the performance of the iPhone significantly against the previous generation. Apple has been using a dual-core processor since the iPhone 4S, and there is no indication yet that it will switch to four cores. However, the latest rumors talk about the transition from 32-bit architecture to 64-bit, which would bring another positive increase in performance without much impact on battery life. This change should take place within the new Apple A7 processor, which is supposed to be up to 30% faster than the predecessor A6. Due to the new visual effects in iOS 7, performance is definitely not lost.
As for the RAM memory, there is no indication that Apple would increase the size from the current 1 GB to double, after all, the iPhone 5 certainly does not suffer from a lack of operating memory. However, there are rumors that, on the contrary, the storage could be increased, or rather that Apple will present a 128 GB version of the iPhone. After the launch of the 4th generation iPad with the same storage, it would not be surprising.
Camera
The iPhone 5 is currently among the best camera phones on the market, but it is surpassed by, for example, the Nokia Lumia 1020, which excels at taking pictures in low light and in the dark. Several speculations have surfaced around the iPhone 5S camera. According to them, Apple should increase the number of megapixels from eight to twelve, at the same time, the aperture should increase up to f/2.0, which would help the sensor capture more light.
To improve images taken at night, the iPhone 5S should include an LED flash with two diodes. This would allow the phone to illuminate the surroundings better, but the two diodes could work a little differently. Rather than a set of two identical diodes, the two diodes would have a different color and the camera would, based on the analysis of the scenery, decide which of the pair to use for more accurate color reproduction.
Fingerprint reader
One of the main new features of the iPhone 5S should be the built-in fingerprint reader in the Home button. These speculations arose especially after Apple bought Authentec dealing with this very technology. In the past, we haven't seen a fingerprint reader on a large number of phones. Some PDAs from HP had it, but for example i Motorola Atrix 4G of 2011.
The reader could serve users not only for unlocking the device, but also for mobile payments. In addition to the built-in reader, one more change should await the Home button, which is to cover its surface with sapphire glass, just as Apple protects the camera lens on the iPhone 5. Sapphire glass is much more durable than Gorilla Glass and would thus protect the aforementioned fingerprint reader.
Colors
Apparently, for the first time since the release of the iPhone 3G, a new color should be added to the range of phones. It should be about champagne shade, i.e. not bright gold, as was rumored at the beginning. Among other things, this color is popular in countries such as China or India, i.e. in both of Apple's strategic markets.
According to other rumors, we could also expect minor changes in the black variant, as suggested by the "leaked" graphite version of the iPhone 5S, which, however, appeared for the first time last year before the iPhone 5 was unveiled. Either way, we should expect at least one new color in addition to the classic pair of black and white.
iPhone 5C
According to the latest reports and leaks from the last months, in addition to the iPhone 5S, i.e. the successor to the 6th generation of the phone, we should also expect a cheaper version of the phone, which is generally referred to as "iPhone 5C", where the letter C should stand for "Color", i.e. color. The iPhone 5C is intended to target mainly markets where cheaper Android phones dominate and where operators usually do not sell favorable subsidized phones, or where the subsidies are ridiculous as in the Czech Republic.
The cheaper phone should replace the iPhone 4S, which would be offered at a reduced price as part of Apple's current sales strategy. It makes particular sense this year, as the iPhone 4S would be the only Apple product sold at the same time with a 30-pin connector and a 2:3 screen. By replacing the 5th generation phone with the iPhone 5C, Apple would thus unify connectors, displays and connectivity (LTE).
Guts
According to all estimates, the iPhone 5C should contain the same processor as the iPhone 5, i.e. the Apple A6, mainly because Apple is directly behind its design, it is not just a slightly modified existing chip. The operating memory would probably be the same as the iPhone 4S, i.e. 512 MB, although it is not excluded that the iPhone 7C could get 5 GB of RAM for the smoothness of the system, especially the more demanding iOS 1. The storage will probably be the same as the previous options, i.e. 16, 32 and 64 GB.
As for the camera, it is not expected to reach the quality of the iPhone 5, so Apple will probably use optics similar to the iPhone 4S (8 mpix), which can still take great photos and enables, for example, image stabilization when recording video and 1080p resolution. As for the rest of the internal components, they will probably be largely identical to the iPhone 4S, with the exception of the chip for receiving the signal, which will also support 4th generation networks
Back cover and colors
Probably the most controversial part of the iPhone 5C is its back cover, which is supposed to be made of plastic for the first time since 2009. Apple has since moved to sleeker-looking aluminum and steel combined with glass, so polycarbonate is an unexpected throwback to the past. Plastic has two important factors in this case - firstly, it is cheaper than metal and secondly, it is easier to process, which allows Apple to reduce the production cost even more.
Perhaps the most striking feature is the color combinations, which resemble the color palette of the iPod touch. The iPhone 5C is expected to be available in 5-6 colors – white, black, green, blue, pink and yellow. Colors seem to be a big theme this year, see iPhone 5S champagne.
Price
The motivation to introduce and manufacture the iPhone 5C in the first place is to offer an iPhone at a lower price to those who cannot afford a flagship. The unsubsidized 16GB iPhone of the current generation will cost $650, the previous generation will cost $550, and the model before it will cost $100 less. If Apple really wants to offer a phone at an attractive price, the iPhone 5C will have to cost less than $450. Analysts estimate the amount between $350 and $400, which is also our tip.
Assuming the iPhone 5C would cost less than $200 to produce, even at $350, Apple would be able to maintain a 50% margin, even though it was used to around 70% on previous phones.
We will find out which phones Apple will really present and what they will have on September 10, and apparently the phones should go on sale 10 days later. In any case, another interesting keynote awaits us.
So I would be very interested in how the transition from 32-bit architecture to 64-bit will bring a positive increase in performance. :)))) If I remember correctly from school, the only meaning of the x-bit architecture is in the subsequent possibility to increase the memory of the phone. With the fact that the 32-bit architecture supports a maximum of 4gb of ram. 64 much more. Which, of course, is irrelevant, because the iPhone doesn't even come close to this number.
The only point of moving to a 64-bit architecture would be for backwards compatibility. When apple comes out with iOS10, which will be ready for 64-bit architecture, all three backwards-compatible iPhones will suddenly support it. Which is a very important feature for Apple. See iOS7 compatibility on iPhone 4. :)
64-bit architecture is much better, it's not so much about RAM (a 32-bit ARM CPU can address even 1TB :D ), but 64-bit increases performance...
I'm not an expert in this matter, but if apple introduced 64-bit processors now, they would be able to run on a 32-bit system, which is iOS 7... and they would gradually release 2 more phones like this and then release a new system that would fully use 64 bits
Yeah I agree with that, but I don't agree that it's because of the RAM ;)
Here it rather became a public error associated with 32-bit and 64-bit systems :-) which 32-bit can handle a maximum of 3,5 GB and 64-bit up to 2 exabytes of data :-) And that gradually started to be associated with processors :-)
The main advantage of 64-bit processors is higher memory throughput and faster work with multiple core processors :-) if I remember it correctly from school :-)
A 64-bit system generally works with larger numbers and can have 2x the throughput. That's all, and this results in faster data processing.
In school they taught you shit about 32bit / 64bit architecture when you only know this
The only thing that really bothers me about the plastic iPhone are the colors, are they the only ones that look terribly washed out in all the speculative photos without playing around with the color palette? The colors are really a shock in my opinion.
The colors will definitely be more colorful, because these colors do not even match Apple's 1% :-) at least I hope so, although not because I would ever consider this model :-D I will forever buy the more expensive one :-D
Finally someone spoke about the colors, if there will be a cheaper option, the colors will be similar to the new iPod Touch :-)
In the photos in the article, it is no longer impressive. They are fine.
I have an iPhone 4S and have been thinking about upgrading for a bit since last year. I'll probably think again this year, but I think the only thing that would convince me would be the increased battery life. If the phone could withstand at least 2 days of intensive use, I would buy it. Otherwise, it'll probably just stay with thinking :)
Don't you find it strange that the two diodes are only in the first photo, but not in the rest?
Not considering everyone else has an iPhone 5.
Well, I don't know, those colored covers below are the iPhone 5?
5C are the colored ones and there is no mention of two diodes.
I dream that there will be no ugly plastic iPhone 5C!
The iPhone 3G and 3GS were ugly plastic too?
Yes, I have a 3G and it's a nasty piece of plastic. I also have a 4S and it's a great glass.
I have 3G too. The only thing that bothers me about it is that I can't update iOS, otherwise I'm happy with it. Btw. why do you have 2 cell phones?
I treat it like a household, one is a wife...
Can I ask something? Does it hurt your ego in any way? Or what bothers you so much about the fact that there would be a cheaper option? A friend from a poorer background will also come to school after Christmas with an iPhone 5, and those who had it before will no longer be such jerks in front of the girls? :o) Thank you for the explanation, because I don't understand what people are so worried about the cheaper version. And please don't write that Steve wouldn't do it and you're fulfilling his last will. ;O)
It's the plastic. Apple has everything with high recyclability. And plastic can probably never fulfill that. That's the point, not that the lower price doesn't mind...
Apple built its reputation by using high-quality and luxurious materials (glass, steel, aluminum), invested enormous amounts of money in, for example, gorilla glass, the white plastic MacBook disappeared, and perhaps only the Time Capsule and Apple TV remain of plastic, which are not exactly portable devices. The question is, is it worth it for Apple: to ruin its reputation just so that a few classmates from poorer backgrounds bring a green iPhone to school after Christmas... And even that design just doesn't suit Jonathan when I look at what he has come up with so far...
I can't help but join. It seems to me from your comment that Apple uses noble materials for higher durability, is that right? Then I don't understand the crazy idea of using anodized aluminum on the black version of the iP5, which scratches very quickly and very easily... And I can choose: Either I will buy an expensive beautiful phone, I will enjoy its beauty and soon it will be scratched, or I will buy phone case and beautiful design will go to hell... I don't know, this was a step wrong IMHO. The resistance of the plastic in this direction will probably be a little higher :-)
Well, I don't know, my active son has an iPhone 5 in April and so far he doesn't have a scratch on the phone and he doesn't use any case... so peeling is your personal experience or are you just taking words from the net?
Don't worry, I haven't dropped it yet, but I put some change in the other cash register, forgot my phone and the scratches on the edges, I had to get an aluminum frame :(
Are you kidding? I've had my iPhone in a case since new, and even the Artwizz SeeJacket 0,5 mm thin plastic cover has scratched it. Rolls torn as if I drove him at least up the wall. I don't understand what they did to my son, but I'm afraid to touch him slowly so that a piece of paint doesn't fly off.
I completely agree, I like it more than iP5, I'm completely satisfied with it, iOS 7 beta is great. But the durability :) without a case after a year and a half, it looks like a different phone after 10 :( that aluminum looks better than plastic, no debate. I also have an aira now, so the poor thing without a display :( when closed, a glass fell directly on the most sensitive part of the plastic, a bitten apple, what irony :) I'm curious about the 5C and I think it's the right move for Apple. It's unnecessarily losing customers who want a phone for more than 10. Fingers crossed
Yes, high-quality and luxurious materials such as glass, steel and aluminum (it's called jewelry, right?) :o) The design doesn't suit you Jonathan - Have you seen the current iPod Touch? And then a colleague with an Android comes, sees it and says: "But, what do I see!? iPhone and in plastic!? You always said that Steve would never do it, that kind of scum material. So things are going downhill for you, huh!? You won't be such a brat anymore!" ... And that pierces the heart the most! :O)
Quality and luxurious materials like aluminum? Well, maybe not... I used to have a Macbook Pro (may the earth be easy for him, I'm a laughing board for the poor guy) at a price of 60, and everyone remembers getting fat... from Apple you only use Mac OS X and MacMini, I won't give them anymore, especially for their margin, don't worry that I'm considering Hackintosh... Amen
I'll join too. For me, aluminum does not mean higher durability (my MBP has more scratches than the older white plastic MB - maybe the scratches are not as visible), but when I take the "five" in my hand and take the plastic phone next to it, the feeling of the aluminum caresses me the soul
I honestly don't really know. My "3G" phone probably won't make it to Christmas, so the phone will be needed. The plastic version is nice - it will probably be at the price of an iPhone 4 or 4S - or I don't know, it will simply be cheaper, but then again, I wonder what the price will be if there are older parts - I don't mind plastic, I have my 3G and I'm satisfied. The iPhone 5S will probably be the winner, although I would prefer to wait for next year, because I believe that there will be a model with a slightly wider display on the sides like my Galaxy mini. I really do not know …
And do you think that a new iPad could also be introduced?
I think the new iPad and iPad mini will also be presented
The iPhone 5 has a better lens - better colors and brightness, although both are 8 mpix
I trust the plastic iPhone, if it has "reasonable" hardware and a price of up to 8000, I'll go for it. I love Apple, but sorry, with today's salaries, I don't want to buy a phone every two years for "fifteen" - it's just not worth it. In addition, Apple should be aware that the competition for half the price often delivers incredible hardware that is incomparable to iP - see Lumia 920 or Nexus 4. Both of these phones cost 8000 and offer much better HW. That's why I hope that the real plastic 5C will compete with them. I hope it will have 1GB of RAM and start with 16GB of storage. But as I'm used to with Apple, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it had 8GB of storage and 512MB of RAM. In that case, I would really think about leaving (albeit a very painful one) to the competition.
A plastic iPhone? What will happen next, instead of a bitten apple, a whole pear? I hate several types of phones, and plastic is an inferior material considering today's age. It's a step back, but it has to be earned, but then again, if I don't have an iPhone, I won't buy it ,No?
If only they had equipped the iPhone a little better. My five annoys me and she got tired of me very quickly. That painted aluminum is pathetic. My wrists are chafing even in the cover for God's sake. It's unbelievable that it will tear even the plastic cover. And I already have a second iP5. I hope that with the new one it will be a little different and the paint won't peel off on its own. I miss the notification diode. I would like it if there was one RGB diode in the home button... and the "square" would light up, that would be great.
I have almost everything that can be bought from Apple, and I think that the quality does not matter at all, at least you can distinguish "socka" with Samsung and richer people who can afford Apple. And those who want the iPhone 5C are precisely the ones with Samsung, HTC, LG, Prestigio,...
What the hell are you doing?
I know people who have a house, a car (Mercedes C, BMW X6) and still use S III, Sony Xperia Z or even S III mini
And I also have a couple of friends who don't even own a Skoda, take public transport, live in a block of flats in a sublet, watch an old CRT TV but have an iPhone.
The fact that I walk down the street with a Samsung or an old iPhone doesn't bother me, because you don't know what the "sock" has at home and how many ambers she has!
PS: I also have almost everything from Apple, but to mock or fool around.
Right here we can write down what kind of car you have, how much land you have and finally we will share the balance
Why are you so vulgar all of a sudden : I mean : What the hell are you doing? I have a strange feeling that everyone commenting here has an IQ well below 100, except Peter, that was the only comment I agreed with.
I think that a person who criticizes and comments on others' IQ without further knowledge can be nothing but a fool.
Everyone has an opinion, but why do you call people who want to buy iPhone 5C sockama. Some are also picky eaters, but they don't have the luxury of expensive things. I think that thanks to this model, the iPhone will expand in our country as well.
Mr. Jiri Sedo, do you think that a person is measured by what kind of phone they have? I feel sorry for you. I need an iPad and I have a nice phone, so what? and I'm a little smaller than you? Not! God, where is this company going?
Jiri Sedo, do you think a person is measured by his phone? I'm so sorry!!! I have Do you need an ipad and a phone and what??? Am I smaller than you?- no!!
Yes, I'm probably a bit more (intelligent), since you wrote the whole thing without diacritics, and on top of that, 2x is equal to technical illiterate, some ham is definitely enough for you.
