At the end of August we brought you review to a backup application for iDevices from the Czech development team e-Fractal, which is available for free in the App Store. However, PhoneCopy has come a long way since then and now has a new version with a lot of other improvements.
PhoneCopy, as mentioned earlier, is a backup application. It is offered to users for free and offers them several options. The backup process takes place in such a way that the owner of the iDevice starts the application, then chooses to synchronize and then waits a few seconds. The data is backed up to the created account. You can edit it, including deleting, rewriting contacts, etc. on the application page - www.phonecopy.com. So it is a very effective, efficient, reliable tool to protect your contacts.
Due to the constantly growing number of users from all over the world, the operation of the entire application and database was optimized, and the server platform was also strengthened. It now supports almost 600 types of mobile phones and devices of customers from more than 144 countries around the world.
Developers listen to the wishes of their customers. The convenience of the entire operator has improved. The user can now search their contacts more quickly or filter their contacts, for example, by company name, email, nickname and date of birth. An algorithm for searching for duplicate contacts has also been added, so you will no longer have a record twice.
If the user accidentally backed up some data that he did not intend to, he can use the permanent deletion of data from the archive. This provides users with absolute protection. It is also an advantage to set a notification about inactivity during backup. If the owner of the iDevice does not make a backup for the period he sets (by default 30 days), after this time he will receive an informational email with a recommendation to create a backup.
One of the main new improvements that Apple fans will surely appreciate is the beta test release of the PhoneCopy synchronization client for Mac. It synchronizes AddressBook from Mac OS X with contacts on PhoneCopy. So Mac users get another backup tool for their data.
You may argue why you would use PhoneCopy when you have contacts in AddressBook, but you know, the more backups you have, the better. This is doubly true for contacts, because almost everyone has experienced the loss of contacts and it is a very unpleasant matter.
And what does the CEO of the PhoneCopy project Ing. say about the new version? Jiří Berger, MBA? "The aim of the new modifications is to move PhoneCopy from the area of regular data backup to the area of flexible real-time management, where we see high potential. Sophisticated functions enabling efficient and quick access to individual data items and their integration into the computer work environment are the way our users value the most. We believe that the presented innovations will be appreciated by further growth in the use of PhoneCopy".
So if you haven't tried this excellent backup application yet, there's really nothing stopping you. You don't have to worry about the misuse of your data by storing it on the server. There is a guarantee of the development team and they really will not give your data to anyone. The ever-increasing user base will hopefully convince you to test this project. Every week, another 330 items are added to the server, in total the database contains over 000 saved data.
If you have any questions, contact us in the comments. You can also use the discussion on the PhoneCopy website. Here you also find instructions and tips if you don't know how to do something.
Um - try reading the terms of use. The operator has the right to send SPAM to all obtained addresses. I just hope that no one who has me in their address book is using this service.
You fart. I read it and nothing. A little Czech envy or just the need to take out a stupid joke on someone? Poor guy…
I used the standard contract that the lawyers drafted for us. Personal data refers to the personal data of each user, not the content of their backed-up data. And if you read the entire contract, there is no mention of the right to send SPAM anywhere. I can declare for myself and the entire team that apart from occasional newsletters that will inform users about new functions (which we have not yet launched in the Czech language) and apart from a notification that the user has not backed up their data for a long time, we do not plan to send anything else. Your concern that we will send anything to addresses stored in the backups of individual users is completely odd. The first such attempt would invalidate the entire project. Nevertheless, thank you for the incentive to read the entire conditions again after some time.
I downloaded the app some time ago, but haven't used it yet. I guess I didn't want to experiment with something that I wasn't sure was already working without problems. Now I'm not worried anymore, so maybe someday... Anyway, I consider it a great thing that goes beyond the boundaries of Apple devices and provides an important service. Something like that shouldn't even be free, and even with a symbolic fee, the author or operator should be included in the package.
Hello, The Phonecopy application tells me to increase the volume. May I ask where I can top it up please? Thanks in advance.
