The newly released iOS 16 operating system brings a number of interesting novelties. Undoubtedly, the redesigned lock screen, new options within the native applications Photos, Messages, Mail and others are receiving the most attention. Thanks to this, Apple once again managed to raise the capabilities of apple phones several levels forward. On the other hand, the system is also equipped with a number of small details that can make using the device more pleasant and make everyday life easier. That is why in this article we will not focus on fundamental changes, but on small things that you should definitely know.

Haptic response on the keyboard

With the arrival of iOS 16, the phone literally comes to life. A new function can take care of this, when you can turn on the haptic response of the keyboard. Until now, we only had one option in this regard – if we had the sounds on, the keyboard could click with each stroke, but many Apple users didn't appreciate it too much, because in this way you can annoy those around you. Haptic feedback therefore seems like the best possible solution, taking the interaction with the phone to a whole new level.

In that case, just open it Settings > Sounds and haptics > Keyboard response, where two options are offered. You can activate it here SoundHaptics. Of course, we are interested in the second option in this regard. But if you want to keep the mentioned tapping sound, keep the option active Sound.

Battery percentage indicator

Along with the new operating system, we saw the return of something that we have been missing on our iPhones for years – the battery percentage indicator is back. When Apple introduced the revolutionary iPhone X in 2017, it had to make a minor compromise due to the top cutout. As a result, Apple users stopped seeing the battery percentage indicator and had to settle for a simple icon, which may not provide much information. So we had to open the control center to see the percentages. Only on iPhone SE and older models, which do not have a cut-out, did we know about the battery all the time.

As part of iOS 16, we fortunately saw a redesign of the indicator, which now directly inside the icon displays a numerical value representing the percentage of battery charge. But keep in mind that this option is not present by default and you have to activate it manually. But just go to SettingsBattery and activate the option here Battery status.

Editing/cancelling an already sent iMessage

Perhaps you have ever found yourself in a situation where you sent someone the wrong message - for example with a typo or incorrect information. Even if you can quickly correct yourself in the next message, it can cause confusion, especially in cases where you are arranging a meeting or a meeting, for example. Apple, after a long insistence by Apple users, therefore finally came up with an important change and introduced the possibility of editing already sent iMessage messages. This is an option that has been present in competing communication platforms for years, but was unfortunately missing from iMessage until now.

In practice, it works quite simply. If you need to edit a message that has already been sent, simply hold your finger on it and select an option when the context menu appears Adjust. After that, all you have to do is edit a specific passage or rewrite the message and you're done. There is even an option to cancel sending a message. The recipient will then see any modification history or the fact that the sent message has been deleted. However, we must point out one important fact in connection with this change. The option to edit or cancel is only available two minutes after the initial sending - after that you can't do anything with the message.

Keep track of your medications

If you take several medications on a daily basis, then you know very well how difficult it is sometimes to keep track of their use. This can also apply to the simple use of vitamins and other substances. Fortunately, iOS 16 brings a simple solution for these cases. The native Health application has received a new option for tracking regularly used medications, thanks to which you can have an overview of them at any time. In fact, it is extremely important to monitor how you actually take the medication and whether you follow the recommendations of the manufacturers or doctors.

To activate the feature, just go to the native app HealthBrowsingMedication, where you will already be offered a practical guide that will guide you step by step, so to speak, through the entire process. So just tap on the option Add medicine and then just fill in the necessary requirements according to the guide. The system will then automatically alert you to the medication, and at the same time it will provide a brief overview of whether you have accidentally forgotten a dose.

Extreme weather warnings

The weather can be changeable and often not surprise us twice. That's exactly why the native Weather application, which comes with a rather successful novelty, also got its turn during the improvement. It can warn users about extreme weather, or even provide an hourly rainfall forecast. It is something that can benefit just about anyone and it is definitely worth it.

To activate alerts, just go to Weather, click on the list icon at the bottom right and then select the three dots icon in the upper right corner. A context menu will open where you just have to choose Notification, scroll down and activate the options Extreme weatherHourly precipitation forecast. However, it is important to mention that for proper functionality, you should grant the Weather application permanent access to your location.

Changing the style of notifications on the lock screen

As we mentioned right at the beginning, the redesigned lock screen receives the most attention in the case of the iOS 16 operating system. It has put on a new coat and even allows you to pin widgets and live activities, which can significantly make using the device more pleasant. But it does not end there. The redesigned lock screen has also changed the notification system. What you may not know about is that you can modify this notification system and adapt it to your own needs.

Specifically, there are three styles offered - count, set and list - which you can change in SettingsNotification. By default, in iOS 16, the set is set where notifications are displayed as a ribbon from the bottom of the display, where you can simply pull them up and scroll between them. But if you want to try something different, go for it.

Block mode

Did you know that the iOS 16 operating system brings a rather interesting security feature called Block mode? This is a special regime for publicly exposed people – politicians, celebrities, famous faces, investigative journalists – who are at greater risk of facing cyber attacks. Although Apple promises first-class protection in itself from its iPhones, it still decided to add a special mode that aims to raise protection to a whole new level. It is this role that he will play Block mode.

Lockdown mode works by blocking or limiting certain functions and options. Specifically, it is blocking attachments in Messages, incoming FaceTime calls, deactivating some functions for browsing the web, removing shared albums, prohibiting the connection of two devices with a cable when locked, removing configuration profiles and a number of other activities. You can activate it quite simply. Just open it SettingsPrivacy and securityBlock modeTurn on blocking mode.
