However, it is definitely not idle with development, which, among other things, it proved to us a few days ago with the release of the second developer beta versions. Of course, it mostly comes with fixes for various bugs, but in addition to that, we also got a few new features. In iOS 16, most of them concern the lock screen, but we can find improvements elsewhere. Let's take a look at all 7 available news from the second iOS 16 beta in this article.

Two new wallpaper filters
If you set a photo as wallpaper on your new lock screen, you may remember that you could choose between four filters. These filters were expanded by two more in the second beta of iOS 16 - these are filters with names duotone a blurred colors. You can see both of them in the image below.
Astronomy wallpapers
One type of dynamic wallpaper that you can set on your lock screen and home screen is one called Astronomy. This wallpaper can show you either the globe or the moon in a very interesting format. In the second beta of iOS 16, two new features have been added - this type of wallpaper is now also available for older Apple phones, namely iPhone XS (XR) and later. At the same time, if you choose an image of the Earth, it will appear on it a small green dot that marks your location.
Editing wallpapers in settings
While testing iOS 16, I honestly noticed that the whole setup of the new lock and home screen is really confusing and especially new users could have a problem. But the good news is that in the second beta of iOS 16, Apple has worked on it. To completely rework the interface in Settings → Wallpapers, where you can set your lock and home screen wallpaper much more easily.

Simple removal of lock screens
In the second beta version of iOS 16, it has also become easier to remove lock screens that you no longer want to use. The procedure is simple - you just need to follow the specific steps swipe up from the bottom of the locked screen in the overview.
SIM selection in Messages
If you own an iPhone XS and later, you can use Dual SIM. We're not going to lie, the control of two SIM cards in iOS is not quite ideal for many users, in any case, Apple keeps coming up with improvements. In Messages from the second beta of iOS 16, for example, you can now view messages only from a certain SIM card. Just tap on the top right icon of three dots in a circle a SIM to choose.
A quick note on the screenshot
When you take a screenshot on your iPhone, a thumbnail appears in the lower left corner that you can tap to instantly make annotations and edits. If you do so, you can then choose whether you want to save the picture in Photos or in Files. In the second beta of iOS 16, there was an option to add to quick notes.
Backup to iCloud over LTE
Mobile internet is becoming more and more available in the world and many users are even using it instead of Wi-Fi. However, until now there were various restrictions on mobile data in iOS - for example, it was not possible to download iOS updates or backup data to iCloud. However, the system has been able to download updates via mobile data since iOS 15.4, and as for iCloud backup via mobile data, it can be used when connected to 5G. However, in the second beta version of iOS 16, Apple made iCloud backup available over mobile data for 4G/LTE as well.
