At the beginning of last week, we saw the release of the public version of iOS 14.2. This operating system comes with several different improvements - you can read more about them in the article I've attached below. Shortly after the release of this operating system to the public, Apple also released the first beta version of iOS 14.3, which comes with additional improvements. Just for fun, Apple has been releasing new versions of iOS like a treadmill lately, and version 14 is the fastest updated version of iOS in history. Let's take a look together in this article at 7 interesting new features that come with the first beta version of iOS 14.3.

ProRAW support

In case you are among the owners of the latest iPhone 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max, and you are also a photography enthusiast, so I have great news for you. With the arrival of iOS 14.3, Apple adds the ability to shoot in ProRAW format to current flagships. Apple already announced the arrival of this format to apple phones when they were introduced, and the good news is that we finally got it. Users can activate shooting in ProRAW format in Settings -> Camera -> Formats. This format is intended for photographers who like to edit photos on a computer - the ProRAW format gives these users many more editing options than classic JPEG. A single ProRAW photo is expected to be around 25MB.

AirTags coming soon

A few days ago we you informed that the first beta version of iOS 14.3 revealed more details about the imminent arrival of AirTags. Based on the available code that is part of iOS 14.3, it looks like we will see location tags very soon. Specifically, in the mentioned iOS version, there are videos along with other information that describe how to pair the AirTag with the iPhone. Furthermore, support for localization tags from competing companies is most likely on the way - users will be able to use all these tags in the native Find application.

PS5 support

In addition to the release of the first iOS 14.3 beta, a few days ago we also saw the launch of PlayStation 5 and new Xbox sales. Already in iOS 13, Apple added support for controllers from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which you can easily connect to your iPhone or iPad and use them to play games. The good news is that Apple is fortunately continuing this "habit". As part of iOS 14.3, users will also be able to connect the controller from the PlayStation 5, which is called DualSense, to their Apple devices. Apple also added support for Amazon's Luna controller. It's great to see that the Californian giant has no problem with rival gaming companies.

HomeKit improvements

If you're one of those people who use HomeKit to the fullest, you've most likely been forced to update the firmware of your smart products. But the truth is that this procedure is not at all simple, on the contrary, it is unnecessarily complicated. If you want to update the firmware, you have to use the application from the manufacturer of the accessory itself. The Home application can notify you about the update, but that's all - it can't perform it. With the arrival of iOS 14.3, there have been reports that Apple is working on a bundled option to install these firmware updates. This means that you no longer need to have all the apps from the manufacturers downloaded to your iPhone to update, and only Home is enough for you.

Improvements to Application Clips

The Apple company introduced the App Clips feature a few months ago, as part of the WWDC20 developer conference. The truth is that since then this feature has not seen any improvements, in fact you probably have not even come across it anywhere. You should know that until iOS 14.3, the integration of App Clips was very difficult, so the developers "coughed up" to make this feature work in their apps. With the arrival of iOS 14.3, Apple has worked on its App Clips and it looks like it has simplified the integration of all functions for developers overall. So, as soon as iOS 14.3 is released to the public, Application Clips should "shout out" and start popping up everywhere.

Cardio notification

With the arrival of watchOS 7 and the new Apple Watch Series 6, we received a brand new function - measuring blood oxygen saturation using a special sensor. When introducing the new Apple Watch, the apple company said that thanks to the mentioned sensor, the watch will be able to inform its user about other important health information in the future - for example, when the VO2 Max value drops to an extremely low value. The good news is that we will most likely see this feature soon. In iOS 14.3, there is the first information about this function, specifically for cardio exercises. In particular, the watch can alert the user to a low VO2 Max value, which could limit his daily life in a way.

New search engine

Currently, it has been the native search engine on all Google Apple devices for several long years. Of course, you can change this default search engine in the settings of your device - you can use, for example, DuckDuckGo, Bing or Yahoo. As part of iOS 14.3, however, Apple has added one called Ecosia to the list of supported search engines. This search engine invests all its earnings to plant trees. So if you start using the Ecosia search engine, you can contribute to tree planting with every single search. Currently, over 113 million trees have already been planted thanks to the Ecosia browser, which is definitely great.
