During FaceTim, you can watch series and movies, listen to music or share the screen together with your contacts. According to Apple, this is a new way to enjoy shared experiences with family or friends regardless of physical distance. Now SharePlay will also reach News.
The advantage is that whatever you're watching or listening to in SharePlay, Messages will give you a place to chat about it if you don't want to or can't discuss it by voice. Of course, playback is still synchronous thanks to the sharing of controls.
