The sharp sale of iPhone 14 starts already on Friday, and Apple has therefore released iOS 16 to provide its most advanced mobile operating system even to older iPhones. He presented it already in June as part of the opening keynote at WWDC22. Since then, beta testing has been going on, in which some features have disappeared, others have been added, and here are the ones that we did not see in the final version of iOS 16.

Live activities

The live activity feature is directly related to the new lock screen. It is on it that information about ongoing events, which are projected here in real time, should be available. That is, for example, the current score of a sports competition or how long it will take an Uber to get to you. Apple says here that this will come as part of an update later this year, however.

Game Center

Even now, when you play a game with Game Center integration in iOS 16, you are informed about certain news. But the main ones are yet to arrive with some future update, apparently this year. It should be about viewing the activity and achievements of friends in games in the redesigned control panel or even directly in Contacts. SharePlay support is also coming, meaning that you will be able to play games with your friends during FaceTime calls.

Apple Pay and Wallet

Since the Wallet application also allows the storage of various electronic keys, they should have been shared with the sharp version of iOS 16 through various platforms, such as iMessage, Mail, WhatsApp and others. You will even be able to set when and where the keys can be used, with the fact that you can cancel this sharing at any time. Of course, for this it is necessary to have a supported lock, whether it is the lock of the house or of the car. Here, too, the function will come with some future update, but apparently still this year.

Support for Matter

Matter is a smart home connectivity standard that allows a wide range of smart home accessories to work together across platforms. It is important for apple users that with it you can control accessories that support not only this standard but also HomeKit, simply and conveniently through a single Home application or, of course, via Siri. This standard also ensures a wide selection and compatibility of home accessories while maintaining the highest level of security. However, it must be taken into account that even here the Matter accessories require a home central unit, such as an Apple TV or HomePod. However, this is not Apple's fault, as the standard itself has not yet been released. It should happen in the fall.

Freeform

This work app is meant to give you and your co-workers or classmates maximum freedom in adding ideas to a joint project. It should be about notes, file sharing, embedding links, documents, videos and audio in one shared workspace. But it was already clear from the beginning that Apple would not have time to prepare it for the sharp launch of iOS 16. It also explicitly mentions "this year" on its website.

Shared iCloud Photo Library

In iOS 16, a shared library of photos on iCloud was supposed to be added, thanks to which it was supposed to be easier than ever to share photos with friends and family. But she is also late. However, when it does become available, you'll be able to create a shared library and then invite all your friends with an Apple device to view photos, contribute to it, and edit content.
