Batteries found inside smart devices are considered consumer goods. This means that over time and use it loses its properties and should be replaced after about two years, that is, if you want to maintain sufficient endurance and the ability to deliver sufficient hardware performance. Recently, Apple has been trying to extend the life of its batteries, mainly with various functions. If you own AirPods and are wondering how to extend their battery life as much as possible, then continue reading this article.

Activate Optimized Charging

A few years ago, Apple introduced the Optimized Charging feature for iPhones, which can guarantee that the battery will not charge above 80% when charging in a certain situation. Batteries prefer to be charged between 20 and 80%. Of course, the battery still works outside this range, but the battery's health degrades more quickly. The good news is that Optimized Charging is also available for AirPods. To activate this function first plug in headphones to the iPhone, and then go to Settings → Bluetooth, where u your AirPods click on icon ⓘ. Then go down and activate Optimized charging.

Use certified accessories

To charge any Apple device or accessory, you should use MFi-certified accessories, i.e. Made For iPhone. Although this accessory is more expensive, on the other hand, with its use, you are 100% sure that charging will proceed exactly as it should. It may seem that charging is a completely simple matter, but in reality it is a really complex process where the device has to negotiate with the cable and the adapter. If a mistake is made in this agreement, damage to the device and other problems may occur. It is therefore definitely worth investing in MFi accessories. In addition to the iPhone or iPad, you should also charge the AirPods charging case with certified accessories, thanks to which you will support the health of the battery inside.

Do not leave the AirPods discharged for a long time

Do you have AirPods lying around at home that you haven't used for a long time? Or do you only use your Apple headphones a few times a month and are they constantly drained? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, then you should know that it is not ideal at all. As mentioned on one of the previous pages, the battery prefers to be in the range of 20 to 80% charge, and if you leave the battery completely discharged for a long time, it may happen that you simply won't be able to move it anymore. This then leads to the replacement of the battery or the entire device.

Avoid high temperatures

If we had to name a single aspect that is most harmful to batteries, it is definitely excessive heat, i.e. high temperatures. If you expose the batteries to extremely high temperatures for a long time, their health may be significantly reduced. In rare cases, the battery or device may even be completely destroyed, or even a fire may occur. Therefore, at any cost, do not charge the AirPods case or any other device in direct sunlight or in any other place where high temperatures occur. For example, the iPhone can deactivate itself when high temperatures are detected, but the AirPods case cannot do anything like that.

Use one AirPod

If you want to save as much battery as possible in your Apple headphones, it is enough to use only one AirPod at a time. It may seem that this is a non-ideal idea, but it must be mentioned that such use has several advantages. In addition to saving the health of the battery in this way, you can also use the headphones all the time without the need to charge them. Just put one earbud in your ear while charging the other. As soon as the first earbud makes a discharge sound, put it back in the case and put the second one in your ear. And this way you can repeat it endlessly, creating a kind of headphone "perpetuum mobile".
