Apple announced the official financial results for the second fiscal quarter of this year, which means the months of January, February and March. And it's probably no surprise that they're breaking records again. Although how it will be taken, because Apple has already moderated the exaggerated expectations of analysts in view of the constant restriction of the supply chain.

Growing sales

For Q2 2022, Apple reported sales of $97,3 billion, which means 9% year-over-year growth for it. The company thus reported a profit of 25 billion dollars when the profit per share was 1,52 dollars. At the same time, analysts' expectations were somewhere around 90 billion dollars, so Apple significantly exceeded them.

Record number of users switching from Android

In an interview with CNBC, Tim Cook said that the company saw a record number of users switching from Android to iPhones during the post-Christmas period. The increase was said to be "strongly double-digit". So it means that the number of these "switchers" grew by at least 10%, but he did not mention the exact number. However, iPhones reported sales of $50,57 billion, up 5,5% year-over-year.

iPads aren't doing too well

The iPad segment did grow, but only by a minimum of 2,2%. Revenues for Apple's tablets thus amounted to $7,65 billion, even surpassing the Apple Watch with AirPods in the wearables segment ($8,82 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12,2%). According to Cook, iPads are paying the most for the still significant supply constraints, when his tablets were reaching their customers even two months after they were ordered. But the situation is said to be stabilizing.

Subscribers increased by 25%

Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and even Fitness+ are the company's subscription services, which when you subscribe, you can stream unlimited music, movies, play games and also get a good workout. Luca Maestri, Apple's chief financial officer, said that the number of subscribers to the company's services increased by 165 million paying users compared to last year, to a total of 825 million.

The services category alone accounted for $2 billion in revenue in Q2022 19,82, surpassing products such as Macs ($10,43 billion, up 14,3% year-over-year), iPads, and even the wearables segment. So Apple is starting to really pay off how much money it has already poured into the service, despite the enormous success of Apple TV+ at the Oscars. However, Apple did not say what numbers each service has.

Acquisition of companies

Tim Cook also spoke to a question about the acquisitions of various companies, especially the purchase of some large ones. However, it is said that Apple's goal is not to buy large and established companies, but rather to look for those small and other startups that will bring it especially human resources and talents. It is the opposite of what has been talked about lately, namely that Apple should buy the Peloton company and thus help itself especially in the development of the Fitness+ service.
