The almighty Spotlight

Like Mac, your iPad has a feature called Spotlight. This useful tool gets new and new features with each subsequent software update. You can activate Spotlight on the iPad with a short press by swiping your finger down the center of the display. In addition to the classic search, you can use Spotlight on your iPad to search and launch applications, search files, but also the web. In addition, the iPadOS 14 operating system allows you to enter website addresses in Spotlight on iPad and go directly to them with a simple tap.

iPad as a pre-computer

When designing its products, applications and services, Apple takes great care to ensure that users with various disabilities or health impairments can also use them. As part of this release, you can use your iPad to read text aloud. First of all, run Settings -> Accessibility -> Read content, where you activate possibility Read the selection. Every time you mark any text on your iPad and tap on it, the menu will show you, among other things, the option to read it aloud.

Change your default email client and browser

For many years, native Mail was the default tool for working with e-mail (and not only) on the iPad, followed by Safari for browsing the web. This has changed with the arrival of the iPadOS 14 operating system, which now allows you to change both the default email client on your iPad and also the default web browser. To change the default email tool on your tablet, run Settings -> the name of the selected application, where in the section Default mail application select the desired application. The procedure for changing the default web browser also looks similar - click on Settings, choose required browser and in the section Default browser set it as default.

Dock options

One of the components of the user interface of the iPadOS operating system is the Dock, in which you can find application icons. You may be surprised to find that you have quite a few options when it comes to working with the Dock. The Dock holds more than just the standard six app icons. If you want to add a new icon to the Dock on your iPad, long press it, until it "shakes" - after that it's enough drag to a new location. If you don't want recently opened and suggested apps to appear in the Dock on your iPad, run Settings -> Desktop and Dock a deactivate item View recommended and recent apps.

Truly hidden photos

For a long time, the iOS and iPadOS operating systems have offered the option of hiding selected photos in an album designed for these purposes. But there is one catch to this method of hiding photos – if you tap on in the native Photos Albums -> Hidden, you will see the photos again. However, the iPadOS 14 operating system offers the option of completely hiding this album. How to do it? Run on your iPad Settings -> Photos a deactivate item Album Hidden. If you want to see the album again, simply activate the item again.
