Although it may seem that we only saw the introduction of iOS 14 a few weeks ago, the opposite is true. New operating systems are presented annually at the WWDC conference, which is always held in the summer. This year's WWDC, at which iOS 15 and other new versions of operating systems will be presented, will be held soon - specifically on June 7. This date is fast approaching, so I decided to bring you a subjective article with 5 things that I would welcome in the new iOS 15. Of course, tell us what you would like in iOS 15 in the comments.

Always-On display

Apple phones have had OLED displays for several years, specifically since the iPhone X. Compared to classic displays, these displays differ mainly in the way in which they can depict the color black. In particular, with OLED, the black color is displayed by turning off the pixels, which also results in lower battery consumption in dark mode. Personally, I have been waiting for several years for Apple to come up with the Always-On function, thanks to which we could, for example, constantly see the current time and date, along with other information, on the home screen. We already have the technology for it, so why can't Apple take full advantage of it?

Manage iMessage

As part of iOS 14, we saw a really big improvement to the iMessage service, which is part of the native Messages application. To remind you of the improvements, we can now, for example, create "profiles", we can also use mentions, direct replies or the option to pin conversations. But that's more or less the end of it, and what users have been calling for for a really long time is unfortunately still not coming. Personally, I would love to be able to "manage" iMessage, and by that I mean directly sent messages. Other communicators allow you to delete messages, which is useful, for example, when you accidentally send a message to the wrong chat. If you get it wrong right now, you have to face the hard truth - unless you steal the other device and delete the message, there is no other way to delete it.

Fixed and improved Siri

If I said that I wish for Siri in Czech, I would be kind of lying. Personally, I think that the Czech Siri is still a few long years away - and who knows if we will even see it. But it definitely doesn't bother me at all, honestly, because I don't have a problem with English, and in the final it's easier for me to say some requirements in English than to say them in Czech. It's no secret that Siri lags far behind its competitors - so I'd like to see it improve as such, and simply do more. At the same time, it would definitely be nice to fix the compact display, which does not currently cover the entire screen, but we cannot use a specific application in the background after calling up Siri - any compact display is completely meaningless.

True multi-tasking

I completely agree that for multi-tasking we should get an iPad, or a Mac or a MacBook. But the truth is that the size of the displays of the latest iPhones has increased significantly in recent years - for example, if you buy an iPhone 12 Pro Max, you will get a screen whose size was considered a tablet just a few years ago. However, on such a large screen, we can still move in only one application, or we can activate the video in Picture-in-Picture mode as much as possible. Wouldn't it be nice if, for example, we could display two apps side by side on larger iPhones, just like on the iPad? I think most of us would definitely welcome this and it would be a great feature from a productivity perspective.

iOS 15 concept:

Improved automation

Already in iOS 13, we got a new application called Shortcuts. Within it, you can simply "program" certain sequences of tasks, which can then be launched with a single click. In iOS 14, the Shortcuts application was expanded to include automations – again, these are some sort of task sequences, but they can be automatically started after a certain condition occurs. In this way, you can control your iPhone in different ways, or perhaps make changes in your home. However, if you ever wanted to use automation to the fullest and more complexly, then you will surely give me the truth when I say that it was not possible. Automations have many limitations, including the impossibility of starting some of them without asking. It would also definitely be great if Apple added AirTags to the automations as well.
