It is true that we will have to wait a little longer, but according to the leaks so far, the iPhone SE 4th generation is shaping up to be a very interesting device. Although we should wait until a year from now, we can already have clear expectations regarding what we want from the new affordable iPhone.

Frameless OLED display with Face ID

Let's forget about the fiasco involving the iPhone SE 3rd generation and therefore its archaic design. Only the very cheapest smartphones use frameless LCD displays, when OLED is actually the standard. Feel free to let the upcoming phone be as small as an iPhone mini with a 5,4" display and only have a 60Hz refresh rate, but above all let it be frameless and OLED technology. If this is not the case, or if it gets worse, we simply cannot avoid criticism.

One 48MPx camera

We don't need an ultra-wide camera in the iPhone SE, we don't need a telephoto lens in it either. Here it is not necessary to play with the number of cameras, but still with the number of MPx. If Apple gives us a sensor that will only have 12 MPx, it will be a clear disappointment. But it would be enough to use the same hardware that the main camera of the iPhone 15 now has, that is, a 48MPx camera, which is good enough to give the SE model a long life and sufficient quality.

128GB base storage

Just as we'd be disappointed with the 12MP camera, we'd be disappointed with just 64GB of internal storage. It wasn't enough years ago and it still isn't enough. Apple shouldn't go back to this small capacity just to save money. Demands on storage are still growing, whether with higher-quality photos or applications and games. And we don't want to skimp on storage to pay Apple back with an iCloud subscription.

Current chip

We don't need a chip from the Pro series, but we do need one that will last the entire life of the device, i.e. plus or minus 6 to 7 years. So giving it anything older than the current chip would be a clear mistake. If the iPhone 15 now has an A16 Bionic chip and the iPhone 16 will have an A17 Bionic chip, the iPhone SE of the 4th generation should also have the latter.

An acceptable price

We don't want a device for free, but we want it to have an ideal price tag, which is now completely out of the question for the iPhone SE 3rd generation. Apple is still selling the iPhone 13 at a price of CZK 17 for its 990 GB version. If its role is taken over by the iPhone 128 in a year, and if the prices do not move, the iPhone SE 14th generation must naturally be lower in order for the investment in it to make any sense. But how much should it be?

The 64GB iPhone SE costs CZK 12, while the 990GB version is available for CZK 128. This is exactly the price tag that would be acceptable for a new product. The difference of 14 and a half thousand from the higher model is probably acceptable in the case of the truncated equipment of the upcoming SE model. In addition, it is a price range in which the lightweight devices of competitors, such as the upcoming Google Pixel 490a or the Samsung Galaxy S3 FE released before Christmas, move.
