Apple is gradually improving its macOS Monterey operating system. Thanks to this, the operating system for Mac offers a lot of possibilities for use and customization. In today's article, we bring you five tips that you may have forgotten.

Quick connection speed check

Usually, most of us use various third-party tools to find out information about our connection speed. On a Mac with macOS Monterey, however, it is possible to find out this data from the Terminal. Start Terminal (for example, by pressing Cmd + Spacebar to activate Spotlight and typing "Terminal"), then just type the command into the command line networkQuality and press Enter.

Low power mode

Owners of iPhones or even Apple Watch are intimately familiar with the reduced power mode, which many of us activate on our devices when we do not have access to a charger and need to save battery. But Mac also offers this option, and there are quite a few users who don't know about it. If you are away from a charging source with your Mac, click the  menu -> System Preferences -> Battery in the upper left corner of your Mac screen. In the left column, select Battery and then check Low Power Mode.

Change the color of the mouse cursor

Without third-party applications, you don't have many options to significantly change the appearance of the mouse cursor in macOS Monterey, but there is a way. If you want to change the mouse cursor color on Mac, click  menu -> System Preferences -> Accessibility in the upper left corner of the screen. In the left panel, click Monitor, select the Indicator tab, and you can make the necessary adjustments.

Customize the top bar in Safari

The macOS Monterey operating system also offers the ability to change the appearance of the toolbar in the Safari browser. Launch Safari, then click Safari -> Preferences on the toolbar at the top of the screen. Select the Panels tab, then select whether you prefer a compact or standalone layout at the top of the preferences window.

Interactive globe in Maps

The native Apple Maps application in macOS Monterey offers, among other things, the ability to view a virtual globe. First, launch native Maps, then click the 3D button in the top panel. With the help of the slider at the bottom right, all you have to do is zoom out the map to the maximum until the desired globe appears.
