One of the most popular cloud storage is undoubtedly Google Drive. And no wonder. In addition to offering great sharing options, office web apps and 15 GB free on the basic plan, it has a great app for both desktops and smartphones and tablets. In today's article, we'll look at features that make using Drive on your iPhone more efficient.

Application security

A big advantage of Google's storage app is the ability to secure with Touch ID or Face ID, depending on what security protection is available on your device. To set it up for Google Drive, tap in the top left corner of the app menu icon, go to Settings and select an option Privacy screen. Then turn on switch Privacy screen and if possible Request verification choose whether to require verification immediately, after 10 seconds, after 1 minute, or after 10 minutes after exiting the Drive app. The practical thing about this feature is that you can easily access Google Drive from the native Files app through it.

Emptying the trash

If you delete a file or folder from Google Drive, it moves to the trash. When you are using the basic 15 GB tariff, this is not the best solution, because unnecessary files take up space on your Disk. To empty the basket, click on menu icon and select from that Basket. You will see the files that you have deleted in the past. You can either delete them separately in the classic way, or click to empty the entire trash Other options and subsequently on Empty the trash. Then it's enough confirm dialog window.

Backing up photos, contacts and calendar to a Google account

If you also use an Android device in addition to an iPhone, it is useful to have data synchronized across these platforms. To back everything up, in the Drive app, go to menu icon, choose Settings and from there tap on the option Deposit. Turn it on switches for contacts, calendars and photos and finally click on Start backup.

Sharing links

Like most cloud storage, Google's solution supports collaboration with multiple people and sending files via link. To share the link, tap next to the file or folder three dots icon and here tap on the option Sharing links. This will copy the share link to your clipboard and you can paste it anywhere. If you don't want to share the link, but send the file to someone, select the icon in the action menu Share and enter the email address of the person you want to send the file to. Finally tap on Send.

Change default apps

The native applications from Apple are very well designed, for example Apple Maps, but they don't make much sense in our region. To change the default apps that open events, pages, or navigation, in Drive, open menu icon, choose Settings and finally Default application. You can change these for the browser, mail, navigation and calendar.
