Quite often we can get into a situation where we need to record something. A good example would be a lecture at school or an important conversation. For this purpose, the native Dictaphone application from Apple, which is pre-installed both in iPhone and iPad, as well as in Mac or watches, can serve perfectly. We will show you tricks that can make your work with this application easier.
Quality of records
If it seems to you that the recordings you record are not of sufficient quality, you do not need to worry immediately that your device contains a bad microphone. For higher quality recordings, move to the native app Settings, where you open the section Dictaphone. Here, scroll down a bit to see a section Sound quality. Click here and select an option Uncompressed. The recordings you make afterwards will be of significantly higher quality.
Deleting recently deleted records
If you want to set how long the last deleted records should be deleted, just go to again Settings, where you move to the part Dictaphone. Select the icon here Delete Deleted. You can set whether records are permanently deleted after a day, 7 days, 30 days, immediately or never.
Location-dependent names
In the Dictaphone application, you can name the recordings very easily, but if you don't have time for that or you don't know what name to choose for the recording, you can set the recordings to be named according to the current location. Just move to the native app again Settings, open the section Dictaphone a turn on switch Location-dependent names.
Easy editing of recordings
You can edit recordings very easily in Dictaphone. Just open the record you want to edit. Click the button More and then on Edit record. Select a button here Shorten a you can cut quite easily. Once you have a section selected, play it back to review. Then click on Shorten, if you want to keep the selected section and delete the rest of the recording, or to Delete, if you want a section remove. After that, all you have to do is save the recording by clicking the button Impose and subsequently on All done.
Replacing part of a record
You can re-record recordings in the Dictaphone relatively easily. Just open the recording, tap the button More and Edit record. In the recording, move to the place where you want to start record znoseen, Press the button Replace and recording starts. When you're satisfied, tap Suspend and Done with record saves.
I'm glad you have such a nice perspective on the matter
Wow, I'm not really interested in it, so I tried everything right away, it's interestingly written
Thanks for the tips - I set it up as recommended in the article. When I want to record something, I certainly won't have time to experiment with it :-)
after some time an article that caught my attention. Probably not entirely because of the content, although it is interesting, but rather because of the way it is written. Briefly, clearly understandable and without unnecessary sauce. Great job and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next job.
Perfect article!!!
I've been using the recorder for quite some time and it's great, but I have a recommendation. The uncompressed sound may be of better quality according to the parameters, but the resulting file is many times (I feel like 10x) larger, but it is not of better listening quality. I have pro Yamaha active boxes and I don't know the difference between a compressed and uncompressed file.
Hello,
it depends a lot on what kind of microphone your device has. I can tell the difference, of course, it's not as pronounced as if you were recording with a quality external microphone.
Hello, after reading the article I immediately set up "Location-dependent names" and I have a question about it, shouldn't it be able to show on the map where it was when I clicked on the name?
Thanks for the reply
Good evening, unfortunately Dictaphone does not have this function yet, it would also be useful to me often.
Good evening.
I would like to ask if it is possible to share a calendar entry. I need to record tasks when I can't write and save them for a specific date with a reminder.
Thank you very much for your answer.
Hello, I would like to ask you if it is possible for me to record from the recorder without saving the whole thing after clicking on done? The phone "thinks" that I have a 2-hour recording, but it only plays 16 minutes. Please do you know where the error could have occurred, or if it is possible to retrieve the lost data somewhere?
I would also like to know the answer to this...
And I…
Good day, can I please record the lecture, which is running in taems on the iPhone recorder, somehow quietly? Then I record it so that the mobile phone is next to the iPad and the sound can be heard. Thank you
Good evening, please do you know if it is possible to return the edited recording to the original version? Somehow I managed to delete a piece and now I would like to hear the whole recording. Thank you. L
I'm curious, I can't figure it out…
I don't want to be a smartass, but I think it's when you drag on the left side of the region, they selected tracks or selected parts of the track and she gives you that 🔙backup
Otherwise, I wanted to sort over time when I look at my saved things on iCloud in the voice recorder, but "Hats off to that file cabinet" 🙈😅😅
