Have you become the proud owner of an Apple tablet and would you like to stop using your device only for the most basic tasks? iPads can do a lot, and our five tricks will help you get the most out of your Apple tablet.

Handoff function

If you own multiple Apple devices, you will surely appreciate the Handoff function, which allows you to continue on one device an activity that you started on another device. The condition is that you have this feature activated on all your devices. On the iPad, run Settings -> General -> AirPlay and Handoff. On a Mac, you activate Handoff v System Preferences -> General -> Enable Handoff between Mac and iCloud devices. If you want to really tweak the Handoff feature on your devices to the max, read the article I'm attaching below.

iPad as a second monitor

Among other things, newer Mac operating systems allow you to use the iPad as a secondary monitor for your Mac. This is thanks to the feature called Sidecar, which also offers quite a few useful options in this area. Your Mac and iPad must be signed in to the same Apple ID, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth must be activated on both devices, but you can also connect your iPad to your Mac using a cable. On your Mac, run System Preferences, where you click on Sidecar. All you have to do here is set all the details.

Gesture control

You must have already noticed after unpacking your iPad for the first time that you can effectively control it with gestures. Swipe down from the top right corner to activate the Control Center, swipe from left to right to activate the Today view. Swipe from top to bottom to show notifications, and if you perform a swipe from bottom to top on any of the desktop pages, you'll be instantly taken to the main screen. You can display an overview of windows with running applications by briefly holding the screen with the currently open application and sliding it upwards and to the right, to close the application from this view, simply slide the preview upwards.

Split View for better overview

Among other things, iPads also allow you to work in two applications at the same time, with the windows of the respective applications open side by side. This feature can make it much easier for you, for example, to copy content from one application to another. First, make sure that both apps' icons are in the Dock on your iPad. Now first open one app, and then a short swipe from the bottom up display the Dock. Pak long press the icon of the other application and move it to the center of the screenuntil the app preview appears. Then all you need is a window with a new application place on the right or left side iPad screen.

iPad as a home hub

Do you leave your iPad at home and have your home equipped with products with HomeKit compatibility? Then you can turn your Apple tablet into a powerful home center for managing your smart home. First, make sure your iPad is signed in to the same Apple ID as the elements in your smart home. Then run on the iPad Settings -> Home, where simply just activate item Use iPad as a home hub. Your iPad must be turned on and connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
