The iPadOS 16 operating system comes with a lot of new features, some of which are small and some of which are big. One of the biggest, if not the biggest, news is definitely the Stage Manager, which Apple says will change the way we've worked on the iPad so far. Even though Stage Manager had some birth pains, it currently works very well and I dare say that it is really a great feature, thanks to which you can easily compare working on an iPad to working on a desktop. Let's look together in this article at 5+5 tips for Stage Manager from iPadOS 16 that you need to know to get the most out of it. Stage Manager can be activated in the control center.

Grouping windows from the menu

You can group windows in several ways, for example using the Dock or the panel on the left. But if you don't want to move the application with your finger, there is another way where you can directly choose which application you want to add. All you have to do is tap on the top center of the application window three dots icon, where then choose an option Add another window. Then you will see the interface you are already in click the window simply select to add.

Moving windows

Within the Stage Manager, you can shrink or enlarge windows, including by using overlays. However, the ability to move windows is also an integral part, which is of course an absolute necessity. If you would like to move a window, just they took him by his upper part. Then you can do it move as needed.

Minimize the window

It is quite possible that sometimes when using the Stage Manager you will find yourself in a situation where you will have several windows stacked next to each other and you will want to get rid of one, but not by closing it. The good news is that this is precisely why the classic minimization we know from the desktop exists. If you would like to minimize the window, click in the upper middle of it three dots icon, and then press the option Minimalize.

Closing the window

As I mentioned on the previous page, you can not only minimize windows in the Stage Manager, but also close them straight away, which will make them completely disappear from the interface. Again, this is nothing complicated, the procedure is practically identical. Just tap at the top of the window you want to close three dots icon. Then select an option from the menu that appears Close.

Use with an external monitor

Stage Manager is definitely nice on the iPad, but even better it can be used together with an external monitor, with which it can work perfectly. Currently, it is only possible to move windows between the iPad and an external monitor, however, in iPadOS 16.2 we will finally see an improvement, when the Stage Manager will be fully usable on an external monitor, so users will have a much larger workspace. Stage Manager on an external monitor is really cool, and finally the iPad can be considered a device that can in some way replace the desktop, i.e. the Mac.
