If you are an Apple Watch user, you most likely did not miss the release of the public version of watchOS 7 last week. This new version of the watch operating system comes with several great features, such as sleep analysis and hand washing reminders. If you installed watchOS 7 on a newer Apple Watch, you most likely have no problems. However, if, on the other hand, you have installed this system on, for example, the Apple Watch Series 3, then in addition to performance problems, you may also encounter battery problems. Let's see together how you can extend the battery life of Apple Watch in watchOS 7.

Deactivating the light on after picking up

Even though the Apple Watch is a smart watch, it should still be able to show you the time at all times. With the arrival of the Series 5, we saw the Always-On display, which can display certain elements, including the time, on the display at all times, even in idle mode with the wrist hanging down. However, the Always-On display is not found on the Apple Watch Series 4 and older, and the display is turned off in the idle state. To display the time, we either have to tap the watch with our finger, or lift it upwards to activate the display. This function is taken care of by a motion sensor that constantly works in the background and uses the battery. If you want to save battery, I recommend that you disable the light when you raise your wrist. Just go to the app Watch on iPhone to move to the section my watch and then to General -> Wake Screen. Here you just need to deactivate the option Wake up by raising your wrist.

Economy mode during exercise

Of course, the Apple Watch collects and analyzes countless different data during exercise, such as altitude, speed or heart activity. If you're an elite athlete and use your Apple Watch to monitor your exercise for several hours a day, it goes without saying that your watch won't last very long and you'll most likely need to charge it during the day. However, you can activate a special power saving mode during exercise. After its activation, heart rate sensors will be deactivated during walking and running. It is the heart sensor that can significantly reduce battery life when monitoring exercise. If you want to activate this power saving mode, go to the application on your iPhone Watch. Here then at the bottom click on Moje hodinky and go to the section Exercises. A function is simply enough here Activate power saving mode.

Deactivating heart rate monitoring

In the background, Apple's smartwatch performs countless different processes. They can actively work with the location in the background, they can also constantly monitor whether you have received new mail and, last but not least, they also monitor your heart activity, i.e. your heartbeat. Thanks to this, the watch can, of course, if you have it set, inform you about a too high or low heart rate. However, the heart sensor can cut a large part of the battery life in the background, so if you use other wearable accessories to monitor heart activity, you can disable heart activity monitoring on the Apple Watch. Just go to the app on your iPhone Watch, where below click on My watch. Here then go to the section Privacy a deactivate possibility Heart beat.

Disable animations

Just like iOS or iPadOS, watchOS also has all kinds of animations and moving effects, thanks to which the environment simply looks nicer and friendlier. Believe it or not, in order to render all these animations and motion effects, it is necessary for the Apple Watch to use high performance, especially then for the older Apple Watch. Fortunately, however, these beautification features can be easily disabled in watchOS. So, if you don't mind that the system will not seem so graceful, and that you will lose all kinds of animations, then proceed as follows. On your iPhone, go to the app Watch, where below tap on the option My watch. Here then find and tap on the option disclosure, and then go to the section Limit movement. Here you only need to function Restrict movement activated. In addition, after that you can deactivate possibility Play message effects.

Color rendition reduction

The display on the Apple Watch is one of the biggest consumers of battery power. This is precisely why it is necessary for the display to be turned off in older Apple Watches - if it remained constantly active, the life of the Apple Watch would be greatly reduced. If you look anywhere within watchOS, you'll find that there's a display of colorful colors that can be found literally everywhere. Even the display of these colorful colors can reduce the battery life in a way. However, there is an option in watchOS with which you can switch all colors to grayscale, which will positively affect battery life. If you want to activate grayscale on your Apple Watch, go to the app on your iPhone Watch, where below click on section My watch. After that, you just need to move to disclosure, where finally use the switch to activate the option Grayscale.
