Charging

Let's start with the simplest advice. One of the reasons why AirPods do not want to connect to your iPhone can simply be their discharge, which we often simply do not notice. So first try to return the AirPods to the case, connect the case to the charger and after a while try to connect to the iPhone again.

Unpairing and re-pairing

Sometimes the reasons why AirPods won't connect to iPhone can be downright mysterious, and often a relatively simple solution of unpairing and re-pairing is enough. First run on your iPhone Settings -> Bluetooth, and tap the ⓘ to the right of your AirPods' name. Click on Ignore and confirm. To re-pair afterwards, just open the case with the AirPods near the iPhone.

Reset AirPods

Another solution may be to reset the AirPods. After this process, the headphones will behave like new, and you can try to connect them to your iPhone again. Place both earphones in the case and open its lid. Then long press the button on the back of the case until the LED starts flashing orange. Close the case, bring it closer to the iPhone, and open it to re-pair.

Reset iPhone

If resetting the headphones didn't help, you can try resetting the iPhone itself. Head to Settings -> General, click on Turn off and then slide your finger over the slider that says Swipe to turn off. Wait a while, then turn your iPhone back on.

Cleaning headphones

The last step is more related to charging, which is one of the keys to successfully connecting AirPods to an iPhone. Sometimes dirt can prevent proper and successful charging. Always clean your AirPods with a clean, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. You can also help yourself with a soft brush or a single-breasted toothbrush.
