Among other things, Apple's operating systems also include the native Apple Maps application. Although it lacks a few details for perfection and is perhaps not as popular as some competing tools, it is definitely worth at least a try, as Apple tries to continuously improve it. In today's article, we will introduce you to five tips and tricks for even more effective use of Apple Maps on Mac.

Sending to iPhone

Similar to Google Maps, you can also send a map with a route from the desktop version of the map to your iPhone with Apple Maps - but the condition is that both devices are signed in to the same Apple ID. On your Mac, launch the Apple Maps app and type area, route or location. On the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, click File -> Send to Device, and select the appropriate device.

Export to PDF

You can also easily and quickly convert maps from the Apple Maps application to a PDF file on your Mac, which you can then edit, save, attach to a presentation or document, or even print. How to do it? First, in Apple Maps on your Mac, select region, that you want to capture. Then click on the toolbar at the top of the screen File and select Print. In the dialog box, then on the right side in the drop-down menu, choose Save as PDF.

Check out the interiors

One of the features offered by the native Apple Maps application is the ability to navigate some interiors, such as airports or larger shopping centers. However, this function is not available for all objects of this type. You can recognize the possibility of its use by finding an inscription next to the given object on the maps Look inside – just click on it and you can easily find your way around the given building. In the drop-down menu at the bottom of the application window, you can switch between individual floors.

Trackpad gestures

Like many other applications for Mac, Apple Maps also offers the possibility of control using gestures on the trackpad. The gesture of pinching or, conversely, opening two fingers is used to zoom in and out of the map, double-clicking also provides the same service. If you hold down the Option (Alt) key while double-clicking, it zooms out. By rotating your fingers on the trackpad you can rotate the map, by moving two fingers you can scroll around the map.

Quick actions

Do you need to save a selected location on Apple Maps to a list, find out more information about it, or need to contact it immediately? Enough click on the given place with the left mouse button, which will display a menu from which you can click through to the site's website, read about it on Wikipedia, or perhaps view reviews. In the upper part of the mentioned menu, you will find buttons for adding to the list of places, to favorites, contact or sharing.
