Google offers a number of great services for users, including Google Drive cloud storage. This service can do much more than just save, download and manage files and folders. In today's article, we will introduce you to five tips and tricks that every Google Drive user should know.

Conversion of MS documents to Google Docs format

You can store all possible types of files and documents in Google Drive storage, including those in MS Office or PDF format. However, Google Drive can also serve you well as a tool to convert these documents to the Google Docs format. Just in Google Drive select a document, which you need to convert, click on it right mouse button and then click on Open in app. In toolbar at the top of the screen then just click on File -> Save as Google Doc.

Drag and drop

There are two ways to upload documents to Google Drive storage. Most users choose the variant in which top left clicks on Add -> File Upload. But there is an even easier way - Google Drive supports the function Drag and drop, so you just need to run the service in your web browser and then just from a location on your computer drag selected items to the destination location.

Examine the document

Another tip from our offer today is again related to documents placed in Google Drive. Google offers a tool that will help you analyze your documents and recommend related images, websites, or perhaps other documents. First in Google Drive choose the desired document and then on toolbar at the top of the screen click on Tools -> Explore. Relevant recommendations will appear in the bar on the right.

Save space

As you probably know, Google Drive only offers a limited amount of free storage – currently 15GB. If you are worried that you could fill up the storage on your Google Drive too quickly, we have a tip for you - simply convert all the documents you have stored there to Google Docs format. Documents in this format are not included in your storage. You can perform the conversion simply by clicking on the toolbar at the top of the document File -> Save as Google Doc.
