Since 2011, when Apple introduced its voice assistant Siri, it has been found in every iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV and in the HomePod smart speaker. In the Czech Republic, however, we are not quite used to using it, because Apple's voice assistant is not translated into our native language. Nevertheless, we will show you how to use Siri, even if you do not speak the Czech language.

Dialing contacts

Pronouncing Czech contacts in English is really not very convenient and effective, but you can still use Siri to make phone calls. If you add a relationship to certain contacts, just say it in English and Siri will then call. For the simplest addition, it is enough launch Siri a pronounce the relation. For example, if you want to add your mother, say "Call My Mother". Siri asks you who your mother is, and you become her say the name of the contact, or him type in the text box.

Finding sports results

If you are a fan of a sport, you surely use a specialized application that informs you about the events with notifications. But you can also ask Siri about some competitions or players. Say to ask a question team name, searched match or player name. Siri can show you fairly detailed statistics, for example, in football, in addition to goals scored and matches played, you will learn how many yellow and red cards the player you are looking for has. Unfortunately, Siri doesn't have a lot of competitions in her inventory. From the European football leagues, for example, the Premier League, LaLiga or the Champions League, but you would search in vain for the Czech Fortuna League, for example.

Playing music

If you own Apple AirPods, you probably already know about the ability to control music, but in the opposite case, this may not be the case. Fortunately, Siri can control music quite reliably. Just say the phrase to turn it on/off "Play/Stop music", to skip to the next track, say "next song", to go back say "Previous song". Use a phrase to make it stronger "Volume up", for weakening again "Volume Down", where if you speak a percentage value, the volume will increase to the desired percentage.

Control which song you want to play

In addition to switching, increasing and decreasing, Siri can even find and play the necessary song, album, artist or playlist. If you use Apple Music, you only need to tell Siri what to play, in the case of Spotify you have to add more "...on Spotify". So if you want to play, for example, Lie to Me by Mikolas Josef and you're using Apple Music, say it "Play Lie to Me by Mikolas Josef", in case you are a Spotify user, say "Play Lie to Me by Mikolas Josef on Spotify".

Setting the alarm clock and minute minder

By the time you've had a busy day, it's quite likely that you don't want to do anything on your phone. But you can start the alarm with a simple command, namely "Wake up me at..." So if you get up at 7:00, just say so "Wake up me at 7 AM" The same applies to the minute minder setting, if you want to turn it on for 10 minutes, use it "Set timer for 10 minutes".
