An integral part of practically every apple system is a special Accessibility section, which is located in the settings. In this section, you will find various functions that are designed to help disabled users to use a particular system without restrictions. Apple, as one of the few technological giants, is serious about ensuring that its operating systems can be used by absolutely everyone. The options in the Accessibility section are constantly expanding, and we got a few new ones in iOS 16, so let's take a look at them together in this article.

Sound recognition with custom sounds

For some time now, Accessibility has included the Sound Recognition function, thanks to which the iPhone can alert deaf users by responding to some sound - it can be the sounds of alarms, animals, household, people, etc. However, it is necessary to mention that some such sounds are very specific and The iPhone simply doesn't need to recognize them, which is a problem. Fortunately, iOS 16 added a feature that allows users to record their own sounds of alarms, appliances, and doorbells to Sound Recognition. This will be done in Settings → Accessibility → Sound Recognition, where then go to Sounds and tap on Custom alarm or below Own appliance or bell.

Saving profiles in Lupa

Few users know that there is a hidden Magnifier app in iOS, thanks to which you can zoom in on anything in real time, many times more than in the Camera app. The Lupa application can be launched, for example, through Spotlight or the application library. It also includes presets for changing brightness, contrast and others, which can come in handy in some cases. If you use Lupa and often set the same preset values, you might find the new function useful, thanks to which you can save specific settings in some profiles. It's enough that you They first adjusted the magnifying glass as needed, and then at the bottom left, tap gear icon → Save as new activity. Then choose name and tap on All done. Through this menu it is then possible to individually switch profiles.

Apple Watch mirroring

For how tiny the Apple Watch is, it can do a lot and it's a very complex device. However, some matters are simply better handled on the larger iPhone display, but this is not possible in all cases. In iOS 16, a new function was added, thanks to which you can mirror the Apple Watch display to the iPhone screen, and then control the watch from there. To use it, just go to Settings → Accessibility, where in the category Mobility and motor skills open Apple Watch mirroring. It is important to mention that the Apple Watch must be within range to use the function, but the function is only available on Apple Watch Series 6 and later.

Remote control of other devices

In addition to the fact that Apple added a function for mirroring the Apple Watch to the iPhone screen in iOS 16, another function is now available that allows you to remotely control other devices, such as an iPad or another iPhone. In this case, however, there is no screen mirroring - instead, you will only see a few control elements, for example volume and playback controls, switching to the desktop, etc. If you would like to try this option, just go to Settings → Accessibility, where in the category Mobility and motor skills open Control nearby devices. Then that's enough select nearby devices.

Suspend Siri

Unfortunately, the Siri voice assistant is still not available in the Czech language. But the truth is that it's not such a big problem nowadays, because really everyone can speak English. However, if you are still a beginner, Siri can be very fast for you at first. Not only for this reason, Apple added a trick to iOS 16, thanks to which it is possible to suspend Siri after making a request. Therefore, if you make a request, Siri will not start speaking immediately, but will wait for a while until you concentrate. To set it up, just go to Settings → Accessibility → Siri, where in the category Siri pause time select one of the options.
