Not long ago, at this year's developer conference WWDC, we saw the presentation of brand new operating systems from Apple. If you follow our magazine regularly, you surely know that these are iOS and iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura and watchOS 9. All of these new operating systems offer many new features and we bring you their overviews in articles. In this article, we'll specifically look at 5 new features in Reminders from iOS 16 that you should know about. However, below I am attaching a link to our sister magazine, where you will find 5 more tips for Reminders - because this application has more news. So if you want to know about all the new things from Notes, be sure to read both articles.

Templates for lists

One of the main new Reminders features in iOS 16 is the ability to create templates. You can create these templates from individual already existing lists and then use them when creating a new list. These templates use copies of the current comments in the list and you can view, edit, and use them when adding or managing lists. To create a template, move to specific list and in the upper right click on icon of three dots in a circle. Then select from the menu save as template, set your parameters and click on Impose.

Improvements to the display of the Scheduled list

In addition to the lists you create, the Reminders app includes pre-built lists — and in iOS 16, Apple decided to tweak some of these default lists to make them even better. Specifically, this improvement concerns, for example, the list scheduled to where you will no longer see all reminders simply below each other. Instead, they are broken down into individual days, weeks, and months, which will help with long-term organization.

Better note taking options

If you use the native Reminders app, you surely know that there are several properties available for individual reminders that you can add. This is, of course, the date and time, as well as the location, signs, markings with a flag and photos. You can also set a note below directly when creating a reminder. In this note field, Apple has added text formatting options, including a bulleted list. So that's enough hold your finger on the text, and then select in the menu Format, where you can already find all the options.

New filtering options

In addition to the fact that you can use your own lists in Reminders, you can also create smart lists that can group individual reminders according to certain criteria. Specifically, reminders can be filtered by tags, date, time, location, label, priority, and lists. However, a new option has been added, thanks to which you can set the smart lists to display either reminders that match to everyone criteria, or by any. To create a new smart list, tap on the bottom right add list, and then on Convert to a smart list. You can find all the options here.

Opportunities for cooperation

In iOS 16, Apple has generally redesigned the way we can share content from different apps with other people. While in previous versions it was simply about sharing, in iOS 16 we can now use the official name of collaboration. Thanks to collaborations, among other things, you can also set various permissions very easily - even though there aren't many options in Reminders yet. To set up collaboration, you just need to in the list in the top right, tap on share button (square with an arrow). Then just tap on in the menu text under Collaborate.
