The native Weather app for iPhone has seen some very interesting improvements in recent years. Specifically, with the arrival of iOS 13 came a complete redesign, which makes the application look much better and more modern. The next generation of iOS mainly saw minor improvements, with one of the bigger ones coming in the latest iOS 16. This is mainly due to the purchase of the Dark Sky application by Apple itself, which is now trying to transfer most of the functions to its own Weather. Therefore, let's take a look together in this article at 5 new features in Weather from iOS 16.

Extreme weather

As most of you probably know, from time to time the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) issues a warning to alert us to, for example, high temperatures, fires, heavy rain, storms and other extreme situations. The good news is that information about extreme weather is also displayed in the Czech Republic in Weather from iOS 16, so users are better informed. You can view alerts, for example, within the widget, or directly in Weather in the upper part of specific cities.

Setting notifications for extreme weather

Do you want to be the first to know about all extreme weather warnings and never want to be surprised? If so, then in iOS 16 we can finally activate notifications that alert us to extreme weather. This function was already available in iOS 15, but it did not work in the Czech Republic. To activate notifications for extreme weather even in the smallest village, just go to the native application Weather, where at the bottom right click on menu icon. Then, in the list of places in the top right, tap on three dots icon and select from the menu that appears Notification. Here it is already possible to extreme weather warning activate on current location, or on certain places. The second type of notification with an hourly precipitation forecast is not supported in the Czech Republic.

Detailed graphs in several sections

We're not going to lie - especially in older versions of iOS, the native Weather app wasn't quite ideal. Various basic and advanced information were missing, and in most cases users simply downloaded better third-party weather apps. In iOS 16, however, there was a drastic improvement, and users can now view detailed graphs with information about temperature, UV index, wind, rain, feeling temperature, humidity, visibility and pressure, even in the smallest villages in the Czech Republic. To display in Weather at a specific location, click on hourly or ten-day forecast, where you can already switch between individual graphs in menu, which appears when you tap on arrow icon in the right part.

10 day forecast in detail

Once you have moved to Weather, simply by swiping left or right, you can view information about the weather in individual cities. On each card with a city there is an hourly forecast, ten-day forecast, radar and other information. However, as we already said on the previous page, in iOS 16 Apple added an option to Weather to display accurate graphs with information. You can easily have these charts displayed up to 10 days ahead. Just tap on the city weather tab hourly or ten-day forecast. You can find it here at the top small calendar where you can move between days. Subsequently, all you have to do is tap on the arrow with the data selected icon, which you want to display, see the previous procedure.

Plain text information

Are you one of those individuals who want to get weather information quickly and easily? If so, then Apple thought of you too. When you go to the new Weather in iOS 16, you can have a short summary displayed for almost every section of information, which tells you in a few sentences how the weather is doing. To view this text information, just go to the one mentioned above section with detailed graphs, where are you select a specific weather section in the menu. Then look for the column below the graph daily summary, possibly the weather forecast.
