Apple introduced its new operating systems including iPadOS 14 for its tablets this week. The iPadOS 14 operating system brings a number of changes, including a new look for some apps or new widgets for the Today view.

Widget sets in the Today view

The iPadOS 14 operating system, unlike iOS 14, only allows widgets to be placed in the Today view, not on the desktop - but the options for widgets are the same, including so-called smart sets. These automatically display information depending on the time of day or how you use your iPad. To add a smart kit to the Today view, long press the view bar, then tap the “+” in the upper left corner. After that, just select a smart kit in the menu and add it by clicking the Add widget button.

Launching websites from Spotlight

The Spotlight feature has gained even more capabilities in iPadOS 14, including launching web pages. Swipe down on the screen briefly to activate Spotlight, then enter the URL of the desired website in the search bar. Open the page in Safari with a simple tap.

Change your default web browser

The iPadOS 14 operating system also allows you to change the default web browser - for example, you can set the popular Chrome from Google. On your iPad, launch Settings and find the desired browser in the list of apps in the left-hand panel. Click on its name, then in the main window, in the Default browser section, change Safari to the new browser.

Drawing accurate shapes

The iPadOS 14 operating system also brings more options for working with the Apple Pencil, with both generations. For example, Native Notes lets you convert a shape you hand-draw with Apple Pencil into an exact one—so you don't have to struggle to draw the perfect square, star, or circle. All you have to do is draw the desired shape with the help of the Apple Pencil and, after drawing it, stop for a while, while the tip of the Apple Pencil remains on the iPad display. The shape will be converted to its exact form in no time.

Improved Dictaphone

With the arrival of the iPadOS 14 operating system, the native Dictaphone application has also received improvements. Users can now quickly and easily improve their audio recordings and remove unwanted noise and echoes from Dictaphone. Launch the Voice Recorder app, select the recording you want, and then tap Edit in the upper right corner of the screen. Then just tap on the magic wand icon in the upper right corner.
