More precisely, we have seen the release of iOS and iPadOS 15.4, macOS 12.3 Monterey, watchOS 8.5 and tvOS 15.4. So if you own supported devices, that means you can download and install the updates. These minor updates include fixes for various security errors and bugs, and of course some new functions. In our magazine, we cover all the new features from these versions and bring them to you in articles so you can start using them right away. In this article, we'll cover what's new in watchOS 8.5 - let's get down to business.

Vaccination certificate in Wallet
If you get vaccinated against COVID-19, you will get a vaccination certificate, which you can then prove anywhere as needed. This vaccination certificate is available from the beginning in the Tečka application, which you can download from the App Store. However, viewing the certificate isn't quite as easy as it could be - you have to unlock the iPhone, find and go to the app, find the certificate and tap on it. Anyway, in watchOS 8.5, and thus in iOS 15.4, we got the option to add the vaccination certificate to the Wallet, so you have quick access to it, as well as Apple Pay payment cards, both on the iPhone and on Apple Watch. Instructions for adding a certificate to the Wallet are attached below. Once you have it added, that's it double-press the side button on the watch and tap to view the certificate.

Flying around the world with Apple New colored dials
When Apple releases new major versions of its systems, it always comes with new watch faces, of which there are already countless available at the moment. As part of minor updates, it often comes with new variants of already existing dials. In watchOS 8.5, we specifically saw new variants for the watch face called Colors. This watch face has been enriched with new colors to correspond with the 2022 spring collection of Apple Watch bands and iPhone protective cases. If you would like to view the colors, just go to the app Watch on the iPhone, then to the section Watch faces gallery and tap the watch face Colors.

Apple Watch repair without the need to visit the service
In the event that you somehow manage to damage the Apple Watch, until now it was always necessary to take the watch to an authorized service center, where they could take care of it. There was no way to reinstall the system or fix errors. But that changes with watchOS 8.5 – if you have this update installed on your watch and there is a serious error that causes the watch to stop working, the Apple Watch icon with an iPhone may appear on its display. Subsequently, an interface will appear on your Apple phone in which it is possible to repair and restore the Apple Watch. This means that you can finally try to repair your Apple Watch at home and you don't have to run to a service center right away.
Improved heart rhythm and EKG monitoring
Apple Watch has already saved human lives several times thanks to its functions. Apple watches primarily have functions that can monitor the proper functioning of the heart. These include, for example, heart rate monitoring, notifications of too high or low heart rate, or ECG, which is available for all Apple Watch Series 4 and later, except for the SE model. Apple is constantly trying to improve these features, and in watchOS 8.5, it came with a new version for monitoring heart rate and EKG. Unfortunately, this new and more accurate version is not yet available in the Czech Republic, but in theory we could expect it.

You can confirm purchases on Apple TV from your wrist
Most of us make purchases in the App Store on an iPhone, iPad or Mac. However, it is still possible to make purchases in the App Store, which is available on Apple TV. And shopping via Apple TV will become easier thanks to watchOS 8.5 and tvOS 15.4. You can now confirm all the purchases you make on Apple TV directly on your wrist using the Apple Watch. You can do everything from the comfort of your couch or bed and you don't have to look for an iPhone that isn't at hand when you need it.
