On the occasion of yesterday's opening Keynote for the developer conference WWDC 2020, we got a lot of news. At the same time, Apple naturally focused on the introduction of new operating systems, and Apple Silicon, i.e. the transition from processors from Intel to its own solution, also deserved a lot of attention. As is customary, we also received news that the Californian giant did not mention. So let's take a quick look at them.

Apple has started selling a Thunderbolt cable labeled Pro

Even before the start of the Keynote itself, information began to circulate on the Internet that there would be no introduction of any hardware. It can also be said that it has been fulfilled. The only hardware that Apple talked about was the Apple Developer Transition Kit - or Mac Mini with the Apple A12Z chip, which Apple is already able to lend to developers for testing. However, after the end of the presentation, an interesting novelty appeared on the online store of the apple company. This is a Thunderbolt 3 Pro cable with a length of 2 meters, which is the first cable ever to offer the designation Pro.

This novelty boasts a two-meter black braid, supports Thunderbolt 3 transfer speeds up to 40 Gb/s, USB 3.1 Gen 2 transfer speeds up to 10 Gb/s, video output via DisplayPort (HBR3) and charging with up to 100 W. For Mac with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) interface, you can use this cable to connect, for example, the Pro Display XDR, various docks and hard drives. But the price of the cable itself is interesting. It will cost you CZK 3.

Intel commented on the Apple Silicon project

As you all know, Apple finally showed the world the transition to its own processors. The entire project is labeled Apple Silicon, and the Californian giant will thus become completely independent of Intel. The entire transition should be completed within two years, and we should expect the first Apple computer to offer a chip directly from Apple at the end of this year. What about Intel? He now spoke quite optimistically about the whole situation.

According to the press spokesman, Apple is a customer in several spheres and will continue to support them. In addition, at Intel, they are constantly focused on providing the most advanced PC experience, providing a wide range of technological options and directly defining today's computing. In addition, Intel continues to believe that all Intel-powered computers provide customers around the world with the best possible performance in the areas where they need it most, and offers the most open platform not only for developers, but for the future.

watchOS 7 does not support Force Touch

Some older iPhones boasted so-called 3D Touch. The phone's display was able to recognize the user's pressure on the display and reacted accordingly. The Apple Watch is also proud of the same solution, where the function is called Force Touch. Apple said goodbye to 3D Touch relatively recently and, for example, it is no longer found in the current generation of iPhones. Apple Watch is likely to take a similar step. In the new watchOS 7 operating system, support for the Force Touch function has been canceled, which will be replaced by a redesigned Haptic Touch. Therefore, if you want to call up a context menu somewhere, you will no longer press the display, but it is enough to hold your finger on the screen for a certain time.

Apple released the new ARKit 4: What improvements did it bring?

Today's era undoubtedly belongs to augmented reality. Many developers are constantly playing with it, and as we can see, they are quite successful. Of course, Apple itself is also interested in augmented reality, which yesterday introduced a new ARKit, this time the fourth, which will arrive in iOS and iPadOS 14. And what's new? The most talked about is the Location Anchors feature, which will allow virtual objects scattered in space to be anchored. Programmers will be able to use this to create art installations in life-size to larger-than-life dimensions. But of course that's not all. The function also finds its use in navigation, when it shows the user great arrows that will seem to fly in space and thus show the direction. Of course, the latest iPad Pro, which is equipped with a special LiDAR scanner, will be able to benefit the most from the news. With it, the tablet can read objects in much more detail, thanks to which it can subsequently render them almost realistically. Location Anchors also come with one condition. In order to use it, the device will have to have an A12 Bionic chip or newer.

Apple TV brings two great features

During yesterday's announcement of news in new systems, tvOS, which runs on Apple TVs, was of course not to be neglected. After many years, users finally got it and Apple is bringing them one of the most awaited features ever. If you own an Apple TV 4K and you like to watch videos from the YouTube portal, you can still play them in maximum HD (1080p) resolution. Fortunately, with the arrival of the new version of tvOS, this will become a thing of the past and users will be able to use the full potential of this "box" and play the given video in 4K.

Another novelty concerns apple headphones. You will now be able to connect up to two sets of AirPods to one Apple TV. You will especially appreciate this at night when, for example, you are watching a movie, series or video with your partner and you do not want to disturb the neighbors or family.
