We are less than half a year away from the official unveiling of the iOS 17 operating system. Apple unveils new systems on the occasion of the developer conference WWDC, which takes place every year in June. So we'll have to wait for some Friday for the news. Even so, a number of different leaks and speculations flew through the apple-growing community, which indicate what we can look forward to in the finale.

Let's leave the aforementioned speculations and leaks aside and instead focus on what Apple phone users themselves would like to see in iOS 17. In fact, on various discussion forums, apple growers are discussing changes that they would be happy to welcome. But the question is whether they will become a reality. So let's focus on 5 changes that users would like to see in the new iOS 17 operating system.

Split screen

In connection with apple phones, there has been talk for a long time about the arrival of split screen, or the function for dividing the screen. For example, macOS or iPadOS have been offering something like this for a long time in the form of the Split View function, with the help of which the screen can be divided into two parts, which is supposed to facilitate multitasking. Unfortunately, Apple phones are unlucky in this. Although apple growers would like to see this news, it is necessary to draw attention to a rather fundamental obstacle. Of course, iPhones have a significantly smaller screen. This is the main reason why we haven't seen this gadget yet, and why its arrival is such a huge challenge.

In this regard, it would strongly depend on how Apple would approach the solution and in what form it would be implemented at all. Therefore, various theories appear among the fans themselves. According to some, it could be a greatly simplified form of split screen, according to others, the function could be exclusive only to the Max and Pro Max models, which, thanks to their 6,7″ display, are more suitable candidates for its implementation.

Improvements and independence of native applications

Native applications are also an integral part of apple operating systems. But the truth is that in recent years, Apple has started to lose out to independent competition, which is why apple sellers are resorting to using available alternatives. Although it is a minority part, it would still not hurt if Apple embarked on a fundamental improvement. This is also related to the overall independence of native programs. If you are one of our long-term readers, then you probably already know very well what we mean.

Currently, native applications are strongly linked to the operating system as such. So if you just wanted to update Notes, for example, you're out of luck. The only option is to update the entire operating system. According to many fans, it is high time to finally abandon this approach and present native tools normally within the App Store, where Apple users could also download and install various updates. To update a specific program, it would no longer be necessary to update the entire system, but it would simply be enough to visit the official application store.

Rework of notifications

Although recent improvements to the iOS operating system have changed the form of notifications, this is still one of the main points that users themselves draw attention to. In short, Apple fans would welcome a better notification system with one very fundamental change. Specifically, we are talking about overall adaptability. However, as we have already mentioned, we have seen various improvements only recently, and therefore the question is whether Apple will start making further changes. On the other hand, the truth is that rather than the arrival of news, apple lovers would rather welcome a comprehensive redesign.

Currently, they often complain about frequent errors and imperfections, which represent a relatively serious problem. On the other hand, it does not affect everyone. Some fans are simply fine with the current form. It is therefore a crucial task for Apple to find a certain balance and try to implement in quotes the "perfect" solution.

Widget improvements

Widgets have been a big topic since their arrival in iOS 14 (2020). That's when Apple came up with a completely fundamental change, when it allowed Apple users to add widgets to the desktop as well. The current iOS 16 then brought another change in the form of a redesigned lock screen, which already offers this same option anyway. But let's pour some pure wine. Although Apple has gone in the right direction and significantly improved the experience of using Apple phones, there is still room for improvement. In relation to widgets, users would like to see their interactivity. They currently serve as simple tiles for displaying information or for quickly moving to a specific application.

Interactive widgets could be a perfect addition with the potential to make the iOS operating system noticeably easier to use. In that case, their functionality could be used straight from the desktop, without the need to constantly move to the applications themselves.

Performance, stability and battery life

Finally, we must not forget the most important thing. What every user would like to see is a perfect optimization that would ensure better performance, system and application stability, and the best possible battery life. After all, the system must be based on these pillars. Apple saw this for itself years ago with the arrival of iOS 12. Although this system did not bring much news, it was still one of the most popular versions ever. At that time, the giant focused on the mentioned basic pillars - worked on performance and battery life, which pleased a huge part of apple users.

After the problems with the iOS 16 system, it is therefore practically clear why Apple users desire stability and great optimization. Currently, the giant is facing various problems, many things in the system did not work or do not work properly, and users have to deal with not very friendly problems. Now Apple has an opportunity to pay back the apple sellers.

Will we see these changes?

In the final, it is also a question whether we will see these changes at all. Although the mentioned points are the main priority for apple users themselves, it still does not guarantee that Apple sees it the same way. Most likely, not many changes await us this year. This is at least according to leaks and speculations, according to which the giant has put iOS on the back burner and is instead primarily focusing on the brand new xrOS system, which is intended for the long-awaited AR/VR headset. It will therefore be a question of what we will actually see in the final.
