Stories are constantly told differently over time. While just a few years ago, our grandfathers and grandmothers told us stories through classical speech, for example before going to bed, nowadays it is of course different. If you want to read or listen to a story, you can use an audiobook, or maybe podcasts, and classic personal stories are unfortunately often forgotten. In addition to audiobooks and podcasts, apps that tell you stories between people within chat apps are trending lately.

There is no exact label for these applications in the Czech language, in any case, if you are registered on at least one of the larger social networks, you have most likely already come across one such application, through an advertisement or a short video. In these applications, stories are told in such a way that classic text bubbles appear on the screen between two or more individuals. Even though it may seem silly at first glance, believe me, these apps can really draw you into the story. They are often horror-filled and exciting as hell. Let's take a look at the top 5 apps in this industry together in this article.

ReadIt

One of the most well-known applications in the industry of this mentioned category of applications is ReadIt. At the outset, I will state that this application is available for free, however, there is one catch. As soon as you start reading a story and get close to the end, it simply won't show up. Instead, you will be told that you need a subscription to read this and other stories. This is a perfect marketing move on users who are not informed about this. The story is so exciting that the user is able to actually buy a subscription. As for the genres that are available, they are mainly horror, novels and thrillers. The application can either automatically select a chat story for you, or of course you can choose it yourself.

Hooked

Even the Hooked application offers many different chat stories in an original format. However, in addition to the classic stories you can read, Hooked also allows you to have stories play back, which can be great in some cases – like when you're on the go when you don't want to hold your phone and read. One young lady is behind the Hooked application, which managed to create an absolute hit. Not long ago, the Hoodek app appeared as one of the most downloaded apps in the App Store, and you could also see it in ads on Instagram or Snapchat. You can try Hooked for free with a three-day trial, after which you need to pay for a subscription to read the stories. Together with ReadIt, Hooked is one of the most popular apps for watching chat stories.

TextingStory

The aforementioned applications, i.e. ReadIt and Hooked, simply show you a story that you gradually work your way through. You cannot insert or interfere with this story in any way - all stories are of course designed to be as exciting as possible. The TextingStory app is practically the exact opposite. In this application, you create the stories yourself. This means that you prepare a story in which, in addition to the text, you can of course also insert an animation that is displayed if the other party is writing, you can also set the total time of one step and much more. Once you've finished this story, you can easily export it to video format and send it to your friends or family, for example. The application is available for free, but if you want to add an image or GIF to your chat story, or if you want to change the sound, you must make an in-app purchase. A TextingStory watermark will then be added to each exported video, which you must also pay to remove.

Cliffhanger

Most of these apps work like you're reading a person's message history, and as I mentioned, you can't interfere with the story in any way. However, this is another cliffhanger where you can immerse yourself in the story even more, as you have to make different decisions that can completely change the course of the story. The stories in Cliffhanger are genre thrillers, mysteries or horrors. Some stories are available completely free, but for the rest you need to purchase a weekly subscription. Paid chat stories even display images and videos, bringing the whole story to life again. Users of the Cliffhanger application report that the application is very simple, intuitive and, above all, addictive. With stories, users reportedly spend long hours waiting for a new batch of stories to be added as part of the update every week.

Tap By Wattpad

The above-mentioned applications are primarily horror in genre. Of course, this may not suit absolutely all users, which is exactly why the Tap By Wattpad application was created. This app offers chat stories full of different images, colorful backgrounds, sounds and videos. The Tap By Wattpad app offers a truly countless variety of stories across virtually every genre you can imagine—even the LGBTQ genre. Most stories have multiple endings on Tap By Wattpad, so you can read the most popular stories multiple times without getting bored. New chat stories in Tap by Wattpad are released every week and it must be noted that you will not find stories from Tap By Wattpad in any other application, as this is exclusive content. You can also create your own stories in this app. Tap By Wattpad is available in 10 other languages besides English, so you can also use it to practice a foreign language.
