Today, the world of mobile phones is practically divided into two camps, depending on the operating system used. Undoubtedly, Android is the most used, followed by iOS, with a significantly lower share. Although both platforms enjoy relatively loyal users, it is not unusual for someone to give the other camp a chance from time to time. This is why many Android phone users are switching to iOS. But why does he resort to such a thing?
Of course, there can be several possible reasons. Therefore, in this article, we will focus on the five most common ones, due to which users are willing, with a little exaggeration, to turn 180 ° and plunge into using a completely new platform. All data presented are from this year's survey, which was attended by 196 respondents aged 370 to 16. So let's shed some light on it together.
Functionality
Undoubtedly, the most important factor for Android users is functionality. In total, 52% of users decided to switch to a competing platform for this very reason. In practice, it also makes sense. The iOS operating system is often described as simpler and faster, and it also boasts an excellent connection between hardware and software. This allows iPhones to work a bit more nimbly and benefit from overall simplicity.
On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning that some users also left the iOS platform precisely because of better functionality. Specifically, 34% of those who opted for Android instead of iOS switched to it for this very reason. So nothing is completely one-sided. Both systems are different in some ways, and while iOS may suit some, it may not be so pleasant for others.
Okhrana dat
One of the pillars on which the iOS system and Apple's overall philosophy is built is the protection of user data. In this respect, it was a key feature for 44% of respondents. Although the Apple operating system is criticized on the one hand for its overall closedness, it is also necessary to take into account its security advantages, which stem from this difference. The data is thus securely encrypted and there is no risk of being hacked. But provided that it is an updated device.
Hardware
On paper, Apple phones are weaker than their competitors. This can be seen beautifully, for example, with the RAM operating memory - the iPhone 13 has 4 GB, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 has 8 GB - or the camera, where Apple still bets on a 12 Mpx sensor, while the competition has been exceeding the 50 Mpx limit for years. Even so, 42% of respondents switched from Android to iOS precisely because of the hardware. But he probably won't be alone in this. More likely, Apple benefits from an overall good optimization of hardware and software, which is again related to the first mentioned point, or overall functionality.
Security and virus protection
As we have already mentioned, Apple generally relies on the maximum security and privacy of its users, which is also reflected in individual products. For 42% of respondents, it was one of the key attributes offered by iPhones. Overall, this is also related to the share of iOS devices on the market, which are significantly fewer than Android devices - in addition, they enjoy long-term support. This makes it easier for attackers to target Android users. On the one hand, there are more of them and they can possibly use one of the security loopholes of older versions of the operating system.
In this, the Apple iOS system also benefits from its already mentioned closedness. In particular, you cannot install applications from unofficial sources (only from the official App Store), while every app is closed in a so-called sandbox. In this case, it is separated from the rest of the system and thus cannot attack it.
Battery life?
The last, most frequently mentioned point is battery life. But it is quite interesting in this respect. Overall, 36% of respondents said that they switched from Android to iOS due to battery life and efficiency, but the same is true on the other side as well. Specifically, 36% of Apple users switched to Android for exactly the same reason. In any case, the truth is that Apple often faces considerable criticism for its battery life. In this respect, however, it depends on each user and their method of use.
I switched from 6.4″ Android to 13 mini, because with Android, such small and powerful phones are simply not produced. Some functions on Apple really turn me on, others are absolutely divine. But the main thing is that it doesn't tear my pocket and fits perfectly in my hand.
Same with me
After 8 years on Android, I switched to my first iPhone 13 basic four months ago and I can say that I am extremely satisfied :) speed, debugging, stability are top notch :)
I am thinking of switching, but only because of the size. There are almost no android phones with a maximum size of 6″.
ZenFone 8, Galaxy S22
Although it doesn't break the pocket, but it does the wallet ;)
iPhones are not overpriced, nothing breaks the wallet, be amazed at flagship android phones :) the price also exceeds CZK 20000 :) I used to curse iPhones, but four months ago I bought my first iPhone 13 and my experience is that iPhones are debugged more than android phones: )
I switched from Apple to Android mainly because of the camera
I have both an iPhone and an Android and I am satisfied with both sides!!! Everyone has pros and cons!!! I like the design on Android. Even newer operating systems nowadays are much better than drives!!! As for the Samsung Galaxy Note, the S Pen is great!!! Another thing is that it is a much more accessible application and free of charge... If you have appliances connected to your phone, this is also a great thing!!! As for the iPhone, there are a lot of things that are paid for!!! In order to be able to connect headphones, watches or appliances to Apple, everything must be from Apple!!! Apple design is zero for me!!! As for memory, apple has only one virtual memory, whereas android has several!!! Just like I said... Everyone has their pros and cons!!! But when I'm deciding on Android, definitely Samsung - it has its own tradition!!! And one more thing that concerns Samsung and what iPhone doesn't have is that if you have a Samsung and you run out of battery, you need one of your friends and there is no way to charge your phone, so your phone has a function something like a power bank - a charging station and if the other phone supports wireless charged, thanks to the fact that you have a Samsung, you can charge your phone without having to find a cable or a power bank!!! And that's a big one for me!!!
In the back, you have to take into account how many devices run on the Android system. Register your iPhone there, and within two days you won't even open a photo, as it will be blocked. The comparison here is incomparable.. The only advantage of the iPhone is that they have their own OS, so they are minimally affected...
Nothing against it, but I switched from iOS to Android. The reason is quite simple and that is overall compatibility with non-Apple devices. The absence of USB-C, the low resolution of the camera and overall delayed product development compared to the competition. It's not the wow it used to be.
I have a Redmi 11 for 5G and android 11 (no update yet) I am loyal to Xiaomi and I am satisfied above all. I had an Apple 4s 64g and honestly I would not want it anymore.
