In recent years, it has become somewhat of a tradition that certain errors appear after the release of a new major version of one of the Apple operating systems. Over time, of course, Apple will remove most of the errors, but the problem is that the repair can sometimes take several weeks or months. This was not the case with the release of macOS 11 Big Sur either. Of course, this was not a faux pas from the previous version of macOS 10.15 Catalina, but you can still encounter some errors. In this article, we'll take a look at the 5 most common problems in macOS Big Sur and how you can solve them.

MacBook not charging

As far as I can see, the most common problems encountered by macOS Big Sur users include those with not charging or low battery life. This problem manifests itself in the fact that even when the MacBook is connected to the power supply, charging does not occur - either charging does not start at all, or it appears that the device is not charging. If you are not using the original charging adapter and cable, try this first, of course try using a different charging connector. If your MacBook still won't charge, try turning off battery life management. Go to System Preferences -> Battery, where on the left click on Battery, and then at the bottom right on Condition battery… Another window will appear where tick off possibility Manage battery life.

Unable to download update

Some users may experience that they are unable to download the operating system update. For example, the download often stops, or the update does not appear at all. If you have also found yourself in similar problems, the first thing to do is to these pages check that all Apple services are running without restrictions. If everything is fine, you can try to update in safe mode. You can get into it by using your Mac or MacBook turn off and then hold the key while turning it on Shift. Hold this key until you appear in safe mode. After downloading, log in and try to update.

Bluetooth problems

If you are one of the people who use Bluetooth on your Mac to the fullest, for example, because you have AirPods, Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, speaker and other devices connected, then Bluetooth not working can definitely freak you out like hell. If you also have problems with Bluetooth on your Mac after updating to macOS Big Sur, there is a fairly simple solution - reset the Bluetooth module to factory settings. You can simply reset the Bluetooth module by holding down Shift+Option, and then tap on the top bar Bluetooth icon. A menu will appear, in which just tap on Reset the Bluetooth module. Finally, action confirm and your Mac or MacBook reboot.

Hiding the top bar

Does it happen to you that after switching to macOS Big Sur, the top bar is constantly hidden, i.e. the so-called menu bar? If so, then you should know that this is not a bug, but rather a new feature that was added with the arrival of macOS Big Sur. Apple has added an option for users to set the top bar, like the Dock, to hide when idle. If you cannot get used to this function, or if it simply does not suit you, then of course you can reset the behavior. Just go to System Preferences -> Dock and Menu Bar, where on the left click on Dock and menu bar. Here it is enough in the lower part of the window tick off possibility Automatically hide and show the menu bar.

Typing freezes

Other users are complaining of stuttering when switching to macOS Big Sur. Most often, this problem manifests itself within the Messages application, but sometimes also in other applications. If you have a problem with writing in Messages, then this application force quit – just hold Option a right click (two fingers) tap on News in the Dock, then just select Force termination. Otherwise, open the native app Activity monitor (you can find it in Applications or using Spotlight). In the Activity Monitor, move to a tab CPU, and then use the field at the top right to search for the process AppleSpell. After searching for it click to mark it, and then tap in the top right cross. In the end, the process is enough force quit. This should resolve the typing issues.
