The HomePod smart speaker lagged behind its competitors in terms of sales. There were several reasons - the limited functionality of Siri or perhaps the impossibility of purchasing a cheaper sibling. However, with the arrival of the HomePod mini, the situation changed drastically, but unfortunately, it is still quite difficult to get hold of the small smart speaker from Apple. Even Siri keeps moving forward, which is only good for the end user. Today we're going to show you HomePod voice commands that you probably didn't know that you'll definitely find useful.

Playing personalized songs according to your taste

Have you come home from work completely exhausted, sit down in your chair and want to relax, but you've already listened to all the songs in your library and you can't figure out what music to play? Then all you have to do is say a very simple command "Play some music." If you're worried that Siri will play you some music you won't like, then I'll put you to rest. HomePod will choose music exactly for you, or recommend songs based on what music you are currently listening to. However, what must be mentioned is the fact that you must have an active Apple Music subscription to use this gadget. Users of Spotify and other music streaming services are out of luck (for now).

Who is playing here?

Practically everyone knows that if you ask the HomePod “What's playing?', so you will get an answer in the form of the track name and the artist. But what to do when you would like to get information about who plays drums, guitar or maybe sings vocals in the band? For example, if you're interested in a guitarist, try asking Siri "Who plays the guitar in this band?" In this way, you can ask about the cast of any instruments. Again, though, be aware that you'll only get a load of information if you have an Apple Music subscription. In addition, of course, Siri is nowhere near able to find information about all bands.

Sound the whole room

If you are passionate about Apple audio technology and you have several HomePods, you will surely organize a party from time to time where several speakers will fill your entire apartment or house. Most of you probably know very well how to select all speakers via your phone, but if you don't want to search for a smartphone, there is a solution even now. After saying the phrase "Play Everywhere" your apartment or house will absorb massive sound from all rooms, as music will start playing from all HomePods.

Finding a lost device

Are you nervous, in a hurry to get to work, but just can't find your phone or tablet, which you absolutely need at that moment? If you have the Find function activated on all your devices, then the HomePod will help you with this as well. Suffice it to say "Find my [device]". So if you're looking for an iPhone, for example, say it "Find My iPhone".

Calling is not impossible either

If for some reason it's convenient for you to have a call on speakerphone, you can use HomePod to make phone calls. You can believe me when I say that thanks to high-quality microphones, the other party will not even know that you are several meters away. But first you have to allow personal requests, which you do by in the Home application hold your finger on the HomePod and you can choose from the options for setting Personal requests. If you want more people to be able to use the HomePod, you should have one for each household member create a profile, so that it does not happen that someone else from the household calls from your number. Subsequently, classic Siri is enough say who to call – use the command for that "Call/FaceTi [contact]". I have attached more detailed instructions for comfortable calling in the Czech Republic below in the article. Additionally, if you have one of the newer iPhones with a U1 chip and are connected on the same network as the HomePod, you can only forward the call by you zoom in on its top side.
