As has been the case in recent years, Apple simply cannot develop its systems fast enough. And there's nothing to be surprised about, since the majority of all system updates are released every single year, so Apple made a whip for itself. Of course, it would be a solution if these updates were released, for example, once every two years, but now the Californian giant simply cannot afford it. The release of macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16 was delayed this year, and as for iOS 16, we are still waiting for several features that are still not available in the system. Therefore, let's take a look together in this article at 5 of these features from iOS 16, which we will see by the end of this year.

Freeform

One of the most anticipated features, in other words, applications, is definitely Freeform at the moment. It is a kind of infinite digital whiteboard on which you can collaborate together with other users. You can use this board, for example, in a team where you are working on a task or project. The best part is that you are not limited by distance, so you can work with people on the other side of the globe in Freeform. In addition to classic notes, it will also be possible to add images, documents, drawings, notes and other attachments to Freeform. We will see it soon, specifically with the release of iOS 16.2 in a few weeks.

Apple Classical

Another expected app that has been talked about for several months is definitely Apple Classical. Originally, it was assumed that we would see its presentation alongside the second generation of AirPods Pro, but unfortunately that did not happen. In any case, the arrival of Apple Classical is practically inevitable by the end of the year, as the first mentions of it have already appeared in the iOS code. To be precise, it is supposed to be a new application in which users will be able to easily search and play serious (classical) music. It is already available in Apple Music, but unfortunately its search is not entirely happy. If you're a classical music lover, you'll love Apple Classical.

Gaming using SharePlay

Together with iOS 15, we saw the introduction of the SharePlay function, which we can already use to consume some content together with your contacts. SharePlay can be specifically used within a FaceTime call, if you want to watch a movie or series with the other party, or perhaps listen to music. In iOS 16, we will see the SharePlay extension later this year, specifically for playing games. During an ongoing FaceTime call, you and the other party will be able to play a game at the same time and communicate with each other.

Support for external monitors for iPads

Even though this paragraph is not about iOS 16, but about iPadOS 16, I think it is important to mention it. As many of you probably know, in iPadOS 16 we got the new Stage Manager function, which brings a brand new way of multitasking on Apple tablets. Users can finally work with multiple windows at the same time on iPads and get even closer to using it on a Mac. Stage Manager is primarily based on the possibility of connecting an external monitor to the iPad, which expands the image and makes work even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, support for external monitors is not currently available in iPadOS 16. But we will see soon, most likely with the release of iPadOS 16.2 in a few weeks. Only then will the public finally be able to use Stage Manager on the iPad to its full potential.

Satellite communication

The latest iPhones 14 (Pro) are capable of operating satellite communications. However, it is important to mention that Apple has not yet launched this feature on the latest Apple phones, as it has not yet reached a stage where the public can use it. The good news, however, is that satellite communication support should arrive before the end of the year. Unfortunately, this does not change anything for us in the Czech Republic, and thus for the whole of Europe. Satellite communication will initially only be available in the United States of America, and it is a question of how long (and if at all) we will see it. But it will definitely be nice to see how satellite communication actually works in practice - it is supposed to ensure the possibility of calling for help in places without a signal, so it will definitely save many lives.
