The native Safari browser is undoubtedly closely associated with Apple products. However, it has become a frequent target of criticism in recent years, when we simply have to admit that it lags behind its competition in many respects today. In this direction, Apple would definitely improve if it bet on some functions offered by competing browsers. So let's show you a few options with relatively high potential.

Task Manager

You may know the classic Task Manager from the Windows operating system, for example, or you can imagine the Activity Monitor in macOS. The same is offered by the most popular Google Chrome browser, which is equipped with its own task manager, in which you can clearly see all current processes, how much they use up the operating memory, processor and network. However, it must be recognized that this is something that the vast majority of users simply do not use. Nevertheless, we cannot absolutely question the benefit of this function. Browsers are well-known "eaters" of memory, and it certainly doesn't hurt to have a tool at hand that will reveal to you exactly which tab or add-on is causing the entire computer to freeze.

Better overview of downloads

Another interesting feature/feature that Apple could take inspiration from Google (Chrome) is its download overview. While in Safari we have to make do with a rather tiny window, which, moreover, may not always display the download speed, in the Chrome browser it is possible to open a completely new tab that specializes directly in downloaded files. The complete history and other details can be seen in one place. This is a detail that apple lovers would surely appreciate. In my opinion, it would be best if the current window in the upper right part of the browser would be preserved and another option copied from Chrome would be added.

Sleeping unused cards

In the case of putting unused cards to sleep, it is already clear from the name what such a thing is for. As soon as the user does not use some of the currently opened cards for a long time, they will automatically go to sleep, thanks to which they do not "squeeze" the performance of the device and noticeably extend its battery life. Today, the popular browsers Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox offer this possibility, when they specifically suspend scripts on the given websites. Apple could certainly introduce something similar, and we certainly wouldn't be mad if they took it up a notch. Specifically, we mean that the apple user can, for example, configure on which internet pages sleeping must not occur. This could be used, for example, for websites where the user has internet radio running and the like.

Possible memory, network and CPU limitations

When the Internet browser Opera GX was released, it managed to attract a lot of attention almost immediately. This is a browser primarily aimed at video game players, which is also reflected in its features, which would undoubtedly be worth bringing to Safari as well. In this regard, we specifically mean RAM Limiter, Network Limiter and CPU Limiter. In this case, the user gets the option to set certain limits. As we mentioned above, browsers consume a large part of the operating memory, which can cause problems in some cases. It is for this reason that we see the greatest benefit in the possibility of its limitation, when specifically the browser would not be able to exceed a certain limit. The same can of course also be applied to the processor or network.

Battery saver

However, the mentioned function for putting inactive cards to sleep may not suit everyone. In that case, it would definitely not hurt to be inspired by Opera again, but this time the classic one that offers the so-called battery saver. Once this feature is activated, the browser will limit some plugins, animations on websites and others, thanks to which it can save some energy. Although it may not be a completely revolutionary option, believe me that if you work in the browser on the go, you will definitely appreciate something similar.
